5 Tips For Upgrading Your Wardrobe

It can be easy for a man to simply grab the first pair of jeans or pants that seems to fit right without a whole lot of thought or effort. However, those quick forays into and out of the nearest clothing store can leave your closet in bad shape. Even if you don’t give much thought to your wardrobe ordinarily, there will be occasions now and then that call for something a little more tailored than ordinary.

After peeking into your closet, if you feel that it’s time for an upgrade, follow these simple tips to include more premium clothing items and less lower quality items. My personal favorite menswear brand that I’m currently sticking to is called Haxby, check out their brand video here. I tend to stay away from high-end brands that are currently saturating the market. Obviously, you should find a brand that suits you both price-wise and the fit, but start with the following tips if you don’t know where to start.

1. Start Small; Focus on the Accessories

Adding top quality items to your collection can become expensive. If you aren’t prepared to toss out your entire supply of pants, shirts, shoes, and accessories just yet, then focus on replacing your glasses or belts with top quality items first. This way you’ll begin to develop a taste for the finer things in life.

2. Purchase One Quality Piece Rather than Several Cheap Pieces

You don’t need a closet full of bargain items if you have just one great piece. Take a look at your shoes, for example. Do you have a pair of shoes for the office and a pair for the evening? Maybe you have shoes for working out and shoes for heading to the beach? If you are like a good number of men, then you probably have one or two pairs of shoes that you prefer. Those are the shoes that get worn while the rest collect dust in the back of the closet. When the time comes to replace your favorites, choose a high quality pair of leather sneakers that can be worn both casually and in the workplace.

3. Weed Out the Riff-Raff

Once you’ve established your stand-by pieces and identified those items that you never, ever, wear, it’ll be time to clean house. Pull out the shirts, pants, sweaters, belts, shoes, and other items that you don’t wear and get rid of them. If you are hesitant about taking this step, package them up and label them. After a few months without that clothing cluttering up your space, you’ll be more than happy to dispose of them.

4. Copy Others Ideas

Some men hesitate to invest in quality clothing items because they worry about whether or not they will actually wear those pieces. Overcome this hesitancy by copying styles that you like. Keep a notebook with details about those styles that attract your attention. You can use this idea book to create a wish list of top-quality items that you want to buy.

5. Practice Wearing Your New Look

You’re going to start attracting attention as you start focusing your own attention on how you dress. Your boss will probably notice that you are dressing better. You may get some positive looks from friends and family as well. Becoming a celebrity can take a little getting used to, so pace yourself and work on becoming comfortable in the spotlight.
