A few weeks ago, I posted about how Tastykake was sold to Flower Foods, and what that might mean for the future of the brand. I’ve had a love/hate relationship with Tastykake for the past few years now, as quality control has gotten worse and worse.
Last month, I bought a box of Butterscotch Krimpets. The frosting was BAD! Something had to have gone wrong during production of the frosting, because this tasted like nothing I’ve ever eaten before. I called the 800# on the box, and got a voicemail. I left a message, telling them about my experience. 4 days later (on a Saturday, no less), someone from the company calls me back, and asks for some codes off of the box. Luckily, I still had the box.. The person tells me that they’re going to send me out a coupon for a free box, and to watch my mail.
I get the coupon in the mail, and last night I finally decided to use it. Spooked by the Krimpets, I instead bought a box of Chocolate Cupcakes with Cream Filling. When I opened the first package, I noticed that half of the cupcake didn’t have any frosting on it. But even worse, the frosting was dried out and brittle!
Now I’m pissed.. I’d feel like an asshole if I called customer service again, and they would think I’m some cheapskate trying to score free food. It’s a no-win situation.
