Classic & Modern Cocktails circa Boardwalk Empire

Published

on

While the real Atlantic City boardwalk begins rebuilding, we can reminisce the beauty of the stretch with the upcoming season finale of Boardwalk Empire on December 2nd. Say farewell to the gang with a cocktail or two worthy of drinking around the likes of Nucky Thompson.

Feel free to make the classic version, or modernize it with a few recipes by master mixologist and PAMABrand Spokesperson Eben Freeman:

Sidecar – Known to be the tipple of choice by the big boss, the classic Sidecar is “jazzed up” with a sweet-tart liqueur such as PAMA to create the Side by Sidecar:

3/4 oz. PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur
3/4 oz. Cognac
1 oz. Triple Sec
1/2 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice

Combine all ingredients in a shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into chilled glass rimmed with sugar.

Ward 8 – Nucky and his gang made their fortunes by bootlegging liquor so bars could secretly serve cocktails such as these. The original recipe calls for grenadine, which is originally made with pomegranate juice. With PAMA being made with all-natural pomegranate juice, it not only replaces the grenadine, but lightens the flavor profile thus making the drink more approachable in the PAMA & Rye:

1 oz. PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur
1 oz. Rye Whiskey
1 oz. Orange Juice
1/2 oz. Lemon Juice
1/2 oz. Simple Syrup

Combine all ingredients in a shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice and garnish with an orange wheel.

French 75 – This classic champagne cocktail is elevated to royalty status with rubies – that is, PAMA’s ruby red color, to become the Marie Antoinette:

1 oz. PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur
1 oz. Gin
1 oz. Lemon Juice
1/2 oz. Simple Syrup
Champagne

Combine all ingredients except champagne in a shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into chilled flute and top with champagne.

Trent Carter is looking to keep the tradition of T&A alive and well in today's politically correct world with his popular Thong Battle features, among other things. He also covers even racier topics on our sister site, which is definitely not safe for work!
