Top 15 Hip-Hop Albums Of All Time

Published

on

We’ve been working on a list of the Top 15 Hip-Hop Albums Of All Time for the past month now. We put together our own list of picks, but then decided it’d be better if we got opinions from other folks.

So we polled hundreds of people from across the country, and asked them for their top picks. We used that data to help build the list you see before you. We know this list won’t please everyone, and that’s bound to happen with something objective like this.

We think this list represents the best hip-hop albums, and we’d love to hear what you think!

  1. 2Pac – Me Against The World
  2. The Notorious B.I.G – Life After Death
  3. Dr. Dre – The Chronic
  4. Eminem – The Marshall Mathers LP
  5. Snoop Doggy Dogg – Doggy Style
  6. Jay-Z – Vol. 2, Hard Knock Life
  7. Fugees – The Score
  8. Wu Tang Clan – Enter The Wu
  9. Beastie Boys – Licensed To Ill
  10. Outkast – Speakerboxxx/ The Love Below
  11. Kanye West – College Dropout
  12. NWA – Straight Outta Compton
  13. LL Cool J – Mama Said Knock You Out

It wasn’t too hard to choose the Top 15 artists. But picking the albums proved a little trickier..

Here were some of the choices we struggled with:

Me Against The World vs. All Eyez On Me?
Life After Death vs. Ready To Die?
The Marshall Mathers LP vs. The Slim Shady EP?
    College Dropout vs. Graduation?
    Fugees vs. Lauryn Hill?

If this was a Top 50 list, we could have included all of these in there, but when narrowing it down to the Top 15, something had to give.

I agree with some, not all though. I’m surprised to see that Nas didn’t make the list.
