Top 5 Most Ridiculous New BallPark Foods

Published

This is a warning: if you are hungry while reading this, your stomach might begin to growl, or you might be totally disgusted that you won’t eat for the rest of the day. America’s favorite pastime has gotten through the steroid era finally, but they decided they are going to inject their food: with flavor!

To garner more attention, each year dozens of baseball teams try concocting some of the most ridiculous flavors around throughout their stadium. I have compiled my top 5 ballpark foods that you should order just for the experience.. and sometimes you might even win something. Now as a service to you all, I’m going to leave the calorie count out of it, but it might not be a bad idea to bring some insulin just in case!

FAN VS. FOOD BURGER
Fan Vs Food Burger

TEAM: Tampa Bay Rays

Now I know that no one attends Ray’s games. You are more likely to see a stadium full of Yankee or Red Sox fans when the Rays are hosting their AL East Rivals, but they have come up with the most delicious challenge that should make Adam Richman come out of retirement. This 4 pound beef, cheese and bacon monster might have your mouth salivating, but be alarmed that on top of this giant burger you have to eat a pound of French fries. If you can finish this beast before the game ends, you receive two free tickets and a T-shirt. Basically they want you back for more!

D-BAT DOG

TEAM: Arizona Diamondbacks

So you’re in Arizona, enjoying a game and you are thinking “You know what? I am really jonesing for a corndog.” Well you are in luck because the D-Bat Dog isn’t your typical corn dog. It’s 18 inches long and it’s stuffed with cheese, bacon and jalapenos. Oh did I mention that it’s $25? It better put Nathans in it’s grave.

THE CLOSER
The Closer

TEAM: Pittsburgh Pirates

Grilled cheese is one of my favorite comfort foods to this day. I like to put some garlic, bacon and a tomato on my grilled cheese, and I am a happy man. However the Pirates must have been drinking too much rum when they thought of this. “The Closer” is a quadruple-decker with nine different types of cheeses. I can already hear Ricky Bobby’s stomach growling, because it definitely compares to a nacho fountain. “Is that gouda?” “The Closer” also is filled with candied bacon and an apple compote.

THE CHOOMONGOUS
Choomongous

TEAM: Texas Rangers

So you are attending a game in Arlington, Texas in mid-July. It’s most likely in the high 90’s and you order the “Choomongous.” The “Choomongous” is named after newly acquired outfielder Shin-Soo-Choo. It’s a 24 inch hot dog with an Asian twist. Not only the dog topped with spicy slaw, but it’s covered in the Hipster’s favorite condiment – Sriracha. So if you find yourself sweating, put down this $26 dog and chug a couple of beers.

BAKED BEAR ICE CREAM SANDWICH
Baked Bear

TEAM: San Diego Padres

Sweet tooth readers, don’t think I forgot about you! I am saving the best for last. The Padres already had an advantage over other stadiums because it’s in beautiful San Diego. However they have created the most delicious ice cream sandwich I have ever laid my eyes on. The photo above shows homemade strawberry ice cream stuffed between two candy cookies, but what makes this so unique is that you can decide whatever flavor you want. And if you aren’t a big cookie fan you, can use a waffle or a brownie as your bread in this cavity filled sandwich.

So if you live in any of these cities my first question is why haven’t you gotten any of these yet? But seriously if you are traveling this summer and looking for a fun night out and a full belly, your best bet is watching 9 innings and feasting.

What is your favorite Ball Park Food? Which of these is your favorite?

Surprised and pleased to see that the Yankees aren’t up here with some ridiculous concoction. They don’t need some crazy ballpark snack to fill some seats.

That being said, the Choomongous and D-Bat Dog look incredible.

On the contrary, a quite a few people attend the Rays games on the weekends. But, the Food Burger is to die for! Out of the burgers I’ve eaten, you have not lived until you eat this monster!

I would love to get to the Trop some day, but getting people to attend baseball games in Florida must be like pulling teeth. Miami is 26th and Tampa is 28th. So I think the free tickets idea is pretty genius.
