Ways To Prepare For A Zombie Apocalypse

In light of our failed 12/21/12, I decided to write a little post on a couple of ways we can create our own zombie world in a very controlled atmosphere and still have loads of fun with it.

These pitiful, undead creatures have captured the imaginations of many, many people as of late but few are capitalizing on it. Some would think of these ideas as training and preparation for the day when the real deal happens. Some just get a kick out of the thrill of staying alive…

Paintball Arena
Anyone who knows about zombies will tell you that you need to shoot to kill if you see one. Don’t wait to see if they are going to be your friend, defend yourself or you will end up the same way!

Setting up a paintball arena is hard work, but great fun. Just doing it privately with friends and family is a thrill, but to take it up a notch and make your hobby a business is even better!

The scene needs to feel real. Old cars, small structures, and broken furniture make for great hiding places. You should find an area large enough for maybe 20 or 30 people to run, attack, and hide.

Recruit people to dress the part of the zombie. Costumes, ripped up clothing, disheveled hair, and cool makeup are all part of it. Your actors need to get into character, finding their gait and making some noise.

When your guests arrive, have them come in costume with their own paintball weapons. If you are twisting your business about a little, have weaponry for your customers and suit them all up in camouflage and some type of eye protection.

Then, it is on.

Be the General and provide a little peptalk here, guys. Your troop is about to go on the hunt for zombies. This is humanity against the unnatural. If the zombie actors leave their mark on you, you are out. Dead, I suppose. If the zombie gets hit with the paintball, they are down. You go until one side wins.

Then, give the guys a little refreshment for their efforts!

Deliver the Vaccine
So it is said that zombies are sick people that contracted a disease. The objective in this game is citizens against zombies to deliver the cure to heal them.

This works great at a park where there is room. Paintball guns are optional, but add to the frenzy. Be sure that you won’t get into trouble if you are paintballing at the city park.
Have your zombies come in costume and makeup. Have your citizens prepared to fend off the monsters.

Draw the name out of a hat as to who will carry the box with the vaccine and give the team the location where it needs to be delivered. Zombies will not know or they would just lie in wait until you ran up there.

Give the guys a moment to strategize and then release the monsters! If the zombie leaves its mark on you, you are out. As a citizen, you must carefully plot your way to safety with few or no weapons…almost like tag. If the vaccine makes it to the checkpoint, humans win. If that guy goes down, zombies prevail.

You could even change it up a little and make it a scavenger hunt with clues to find the vaccine and then to deliver it. That would make the task even harder, but would encourage everyone to work together as a team.

Practicing survival is important, as who knows when the outbreak could happen! (FYI – I am not a zombie fanatic, I just like having a fun time)
