The Philadelphia Eagles face off against the New York Giants this Sunday in what’s sure to be an explosive game! Of course, the big question on everyone’s mind is if Michael Vick will be able to hold onto the damn ball?!
I’m liking the Eagles to win, but we all know that can change in an instant. All it takes is one injury, one bad play, one bad call from a ref, etc.
After last week’s 27-6 fiasco against Arizona, many were calling for Michael Vick to take a seat. And things got even crazier when Coach Andy Reid made an off-the-cuff comment a few days ago that made it seemed like he was considering this option as well.
“Right now, we’re with Michael [Vick] and that’s what we’re doing. We’ll evaluate it as we go.”
He quickly backtracked on his radio show, saying “It was the last question. I was finishing up the press conference. Michael’s our quarterback. Period. Michael’s our quarterback. Listen, does he need to get better? Do we all need to get better? Yes. We’re all going to do that.”
Will Reid regret his decision to keep Vick as starting QB? We’ll find out soon enough.
The Eagles have the third-ranked pass defense in football, which means the Giants, a team that has relied on the pass in recent years, could be tested Sunday night. WR Hakeem Nicks is “doubtful” with a swollen knee and foot, but with RB Ahmad Bradshaw returning and backup Andre Brown coming off a 113-yard performance against the Carolina Panthers, the Giants could win a game on the ground. The Giants will need to run the ball to keep Philadelphia’s front four from rushing QB Eli Manning.
If they have to worry about the run, the Eagles lineman can’t stay with the same technique throughout the game. Last season’s stats tell the whole story. When the Giants beat the Eagles in Week 3, they had 102 rushing yards. But when the Giants lost to the Eagles in Week 11, they had just 29 rushing yards. ‘Nuff said.
My prediction? The Eagles will take home the win this Sunday, but it’ll be a real nail biter!
