What I’m Listening To – 5/10/11

Woman Wearing Headphones

A bunch of the songs I’m featuring this week are oldies but goodies. But being that I was born in the mid-70s, my definition of oldies might differ from yours. 🙂

B52’s – Deadbeat Club

I was at the grocery store last week when this song started playing overhead. I was instantly wisked back to my teenage years, and when I got home I hunted down my old B52’s CD! The whole album rocks, but I’ve got to give props to Deadbeat Club.

Meatloaf – I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)

One of my favorite songs, it came out right when I graduated high school in 1993. I played the cassette single in my car so much that the tape finally wore out! Fast forward nearly 20 years, and Meatloaf is an emotional mess on Celebrity Apprentice. And he’s wearing these absolutely ridiculous rhinestone encrusted blazers.. At least his music stands the test of time..

Kanye West – Dark Fantasy

Kanye must be making bank, as his songs keep getting used by the movie studios! If you saw the trailer for The Hangover 2, you heard the unmistakable intro for Dark Fantasy, off of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. I hadn’t listened to the album in months, but hearing this song again caused me to give the album another listen.. Great album!

Duck Sauce – Barbra Streisand

This song makes absolutely no sense, but it’s so catchy! The YouTube video has 52 million views, which just goes to show you how successful the song has become. I’ve never heard of Duck Sauce before, but I decided to give their other songs a listen on YouTube. Anyway is actually one of my favorite songs from the “How To Make It In America” mixtape, but I had no idea that those were the same guys responsible for Barbra Streisand. Go figure! 🙂

As always, if you’ve got something you think I’ll enjoy, leave a comment and I’ll check it out!
