The leaves may be starting to change this season, but my mind is still stuck on one high-speed Lamborghini, two beautiful Russian models and eight mind-blowing international cities from just a few months ago in the height of summer. Here’s why.
This past June, the epic 2014 Gumball 3000 rally, an annual 3,000-mile international motor rally founded by British entrepreneur, skateboarder, and racecar driver Maximillion Cooper, sped from Miami, Florida, to Ibiza, Spain in just eight days. Along the way, 120 of the world’s most lavish cars (and drivers) hit up extravagant parties and concerts, with celebrities like Xzibit and David Hasselhoff and hardcore motorsports enthusiasts at every turn. As a first-time participant in the rally, our AnastasiaDate team was lucky enough to witness it all firsthand – and we even survived to tell you about it!
At the starting line on Ocean Drive in Miami, our drivers Margarita and Alisa (two beautiful Russian models who came to the U.S. exclusively to partake in this event) jumped in our 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder and prepared to take off. During the next couple of days, our team traveled through Atlanta up to New York City before boarding a flight to Edinburgh to continue the rally overseas.
A group of bagpipers greeted us once we arrived in Scotland, and after cruising our way over to London, we stopped by Piccadilly Circus and found thousands of car fanatics waiting there to check out our rides. Before heading into Paris through the Chunnel for the next leg of the trip, Margarita got the opportunity to drive the Lambo around the Top Gear test track. If that wasn’t crazy enough, rumor has it that Xzibit got his license confiscated on the Spanish border!
Best of all, on our way to Barcelona – the first-to-last stop – we passed through the gorgeous French and Spanish countryside. Before we knew it, we had arrived at the finish line in Ibiza where Cooper and his then-fiancé, hip-hop artist and actress Eve, surprised everyone by tying the knot. Crossing two continents in eight days was more than a little exhausting, but it was still time to celebrate and party at Ibiza’s world-renowned clubs and beaches.
In the end, the trip may have been tiring, but it was a journey that our team will never forget. Everyone who participated in the rally also helped to raise more than $1 million for charity, expanding the value of the rally beyond just hot cars and drivers.
So what’s next on our list? Not surprisingly, we’re already planning to get back in the action for Gumball 2015 and can’t wait to hear all about next year’s route, events, parties and more. Stay tuned for that adventure, as it’s sure to be another fun, crazy and unforgettable drive.
