If there’s one thing that history has taught us, it’s that sometimes you’ve got to take a huge risk if you want to want great reward. It worked for people like Vanderbilt, Rockefeller, and Carnegie, and it worked for Jose Cuervo, who bet his future on tequila back in 1795. And 219 years later, we’re still drinking his premium 100% agave tequila. Looks like his bet paid off big time!
Jose Cuervo’s History In A Bottle concept reflects the authenticity of Cuervo’s premium 100% agave tequila. Each piece of the campaign highlights key moments over the Cuervo family’s 219 year history, reflecting the craftsmanship and technique that has remained unchanged since Cuervo first began producing tequila in 1795. From the volcanic eruption that enriched the soil for Cuervo’s agave plants, to the celebration of Cinco de Mayo 67 years later, to the heroic actions of Cuervo to relieve America from Prohibition’s dry spell, to the invention of the Margarita and its inspiration of bikini volleyball. Cuervo Tradicional has been through it all.
Watch as Jose Cuervo brings their storied history to life in a series of significant moments, each displayed as dioramas inside of Cuervo bottles:
How cool was that video? I always thought that Cinco de Mayo celebrated Mexican Independence Day, but in fact it commemorates the 1862 Battle of Puebla when Mexico defeated the French. Jose Cuervo was there to celebrate – with shots of Tradicional, of course!
The Cuervo team commissioned the stop-motion animation studio Laika to create the miniature pieces and bring the stories to life, and the results are beyond impressive.
But they didn’t stop there! They developed the Cuervo History in a Bottle App, the world’s first augmented reality tequila app. App users will be able to hover their phone over a bottle of Tradicional to activate the experience. The app then takes over and illustrates the snapshots of Cuervo’s history on your screen.
It’s a pretty trippy experience, one that you’ve seriously got to try for yourself. What’s that, you don’t have a bottle of Cuervo handy? Sounds like the perfect excuse to go out and pick up a bottle.. 🙂
