Helix fans, your Friday nights just got a little more exciting, as the critically acclaimed science-fiction thriller drama is returning for a new season, with new episodes airing starting Friday January 16th at 10/9c on Syfy.
I didn’t catch the series during it’s original airing, but I saw enough commercial during last month’s Ascension miniseries to pique my interest and watch them on-demand. And I’m glad I did, as I’m a real sucker for these pandemic disaster type shows!
If you missed the first season, here’s a quick synopsis to get you guys up to speed:
A team of researchers from the CDC are thrust into a potentially life-or-death situation in this thriller, which begins with the group being deployed to the Arctic to secretly investigate what could be a disease outbreak. While there, they find themselves stuck in a life-or-death situation that could decide the fate of the future of mankind…
The killer cast (Billy Campbell, Steven Weber, and Kyra Zagorsky), big-budget production value and the fact that it taps into terrifying and real-world issues certainly help in making this series great, and it’s clear to see why last season attracted over 18 million viewers!
Season two picks up where season one left off. After barely escaping with their lives, the survivors attempt to move on from the horrors that took place in the Arctic. But when their work takes them to a mysterious and remote wooded island, they quickly discover the Ilaria Corporation’s reach is deeper and darker than anyone imagined, and a deadly new virus will present a threat that no one thought possible.
I can’t wait for the new season, as it looks like things are going to be pretty creepy and pretty awesome. So if you’re looking for something new to watch on Friday nights, make sure you tune into Helix at 10/9c on Syfy. You’ll be glad you did!
