Allegiant To Launch Flights From Philly and Trenton Airport
If you’ve been waiting for cheaper ways to get out of the Northeast, Allegiant just made your 2026 travel planning a whole lot easier. The budget carrier announced a massive expansion that brings nonstop service to Philadelphia International Airport and Trenton-Mercer Airport for the first time, along with 30 new routes connecting 35 cities nationwide.
Philadelphia Finally Gets Allegiant Service
Starting in May 2026, Allegiant will launch three nonstop routes from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). The destinations include Des Moines, Knoxville, and Grand Rapids—solid options if you’re looking to visit the Midwest or catch some live music in Tennessee.
Here’s the breakdown:
- Des Moines, Iowa (DSM) – Launches May 21, 2026, fares from $49 one-way
- Knoxville, Tennessee (TYS) – Launches May 21, 2026, fares from $49 one-way
- Grand Rapids, Michigan (GRR) – Launches May 22, 2026, fares from $49 one-way
Atif Saeed, CEO of Philadelphia International Airport, didn’t hold back his enthusiasm: “2026 is going to be one of the biggest years ever for our city and our airport, and we are excited to have Allegiant be a part of the excitement. We are looking forward to connecting Allegiant passengers between Philadelphia and Des Moines, Grand Rapids, and Knoxville in time for next summer’s events and for many years to come.”
That’s not just hype—Philadelphia is hosting FIFA World Cup matches in 2026, so expect the city to be buzzing with international visitors and events.
Trenton Gets Direct Flights to Florida
For guys in Central Jersey who’ve been driving to Newark or Philly to catch flights south, this one’s for you. Allegiant is adding Trenton-Mercer Airport (TTN) to its network with three Florida routes launching in February 2026:
- Fort Lauderdale (FLL) – Launches February 19, 2026, fares from $49 one-way
- Punta Gorda (PGD) – Launches February 20, 2026, fares from $49 one-way
- St. Pete-Clearwater (PIE) – Launches February 20, 2026, fares from $49 one-way
Trenton-Mercer has been flying under the radar with just Frontier offering commercial service, so this gives travelers another option without dealing with the chaos of larger airports.
Why This Expansion Matters for Budget Travelers
Allegiant built its reputation connecting smaller markets to vacation destinations without the layover headaches. Every flight in their network is nonstop, which means less time sitting in terminals and more time doing whatever you actually traveled for.
Drew Wells, Allegiant’s chief commercial officer, explained the strategy: “Our mission has always been to connect travelers to world-class destinations at an affordable price. These additions provide convenient options for leisure travelers and reflect our commitment to expanding service where demand is strong. As we grow, we remain focused on delivering the most value to our customers.”
Other Routes Worth Knowing About
The Philadelphia and Trenton additions are part of a larger 30-route expansion. A few highlights that caught our attention:
Florida beach access: Gulf Shores, Alabama is getting connected to five new cities including Louisville, Oklahoma City, and Omaha—all with fares under $60 one-way.
SoCal to the Midwest: Burbank and Santa Ana are adding routes to cities like Des Moines, Indianapolis, Grand Rapids, and Cincinnati. If you’ve got buddies scattered across the country, these connections make meetups more affordable.
Key West from Columbus: A new direct route between Key West and Rickenbacker International Airport in Columbus starts May 2026 at $59 one-way. Weekend trips to the Keys just got more accessible for anyone in Ohio.
How to Book
Tickets for all 30 new routes are available now at Allegiant.com. The $39-$79 introductory fares won’t last forever, so if any of these destinations are on your list, it’s worth locking in prices sooner rather than later.
