American Airlines Pecan Lodge Texas Barbecue

Flying first class just got a whole lot tastier (and messier) for travelers heading from Dallas to the Big Apple. American Airlines is bringing legendary Texas barbecue to 30,000 feet through a mouthwatering partnership with Pecan Lodge, one of the Lone Star State’s most celebrated barbecue destinations.

Authentic Texas BBQ at Cruising Altitude

Starting in February, first-class passengers on American Airlines flights from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to both LaGuardia Airport (LGA) & John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) will have the chance to pre-order authentic Pecan Lodge barbecue meals. This marks the first time the acclaimed restaurant’s food has ever been served in the sky.

Pecan Lodge was founded in 2010 and has earned national recognition from Food Network, the New York Times, Travel + Leisure, and other outlets for their traditional Central Texas-style barbecue. And now, travelers can experience that same award-winning taste for themselves when heading home.

What’s on the Menu

The partnership kicks off with two distinct offerings, both available exclusively through pre-order on aa.com or American’s mobile app starting January 11.

February’s Featured Meal: Passengers can dig into a complete Pecan Lodge barbecue platter featuring smoked brisket and smoked sausage, accompanied by creamy mac and cheese, crisp coleslaw, and the essential Texas barbecue sides—pickles, onions, and Pecan Lodge’s famous barbecue sauce.

March’s Option: The airline will switch things up with a smoked chopped brisket sandwich served on a fresh brioche bun, paired with roasted green beans and creamy potato salad, plus the same classic pickles, onions, and barbecue sauce.

OMG, that sound you hear is my stomach loudly grumbling through the screen.. 🤤

Part of American’s Elevated Travel Experience

This barbecue collaboration represents American Airlines’ ongoing effort to upgrade the flying experience, particularly as the carrier celebrates its centennial anniversary in 2026. Rhonda Crawford, American’s SVP of Customer Experience Design and Strategy, emphasized the airline’s commitment to regional authenticity:

“As we celebrate American’s centennial anniversary in 2026, we’re looking forward to delighting our customers in new ways that honor unique regional tastes, beginning right here in our home state through one of the most beloved barbecue restaurants in Texas. Our customers deserve nothing but the best, and Pecan Lodge is certainly that.”

The Pecan Lodge partnership joins other recent premium additions to American’s service, including collaborations with Champagne Bollinger and Lavazza coffee in both lounges and during flights.

This month, the airline has also recently launched free Wi-Fi for AAdvantage members, sponsored by AT&T, making the travel experience even more connected.

Pre-Order Required

Travelers interested in sampling this airborne Texas BBQ need to plan ahead, as both menu options are available only through pre-order. Reservations can be made through American’s website or mobile app when booking or managing your flight.

For frequent business travelers or anyone making the DFW-to-New York run, this partnership offers a legitimate taste of Texas tradition at 30,000 feet, no layover in the Deep Ellum neighborhood required.
