2026 BMW M850i Edition M Heritage Is Unveiled At Pebble Beach
BMW just revealed something pretty special today at Pebble Beach, and if you appreciate rare, powerful, and beautifully crafted cars, this one is worth your attention. The 2026 BMW M850i Edition M Heritage is a limited-run tribute to the legendary 8 Series of the 1990s, featuring exclusive colors, bespoke interior details, and a V8 that delivers serious performance.
Limited to 500 Units Worldwide
If exclusivity is your thing, this is your kind of BMW. Only 500 examples will be built, each one available exclusively as an M850i xDrive Gran Coupe and destined for select markets around the world. Production is scheduled to begin in November 2025, with first deliveries expected in early 2026.
BMW says the Edition M Heritage will “reward drivers not only with the extraordinary driving experience unique to the 8 Series, but also the satisfaction and pride of owning a rare and special BMW.”
Five Iconic Paint Options Inspired by the 1990s
The Edition M Heritage pays homage to the original E31 8 Series with five BMW Individual paint finishes that were available when the car debuted at the 1989 Frankfurt Motor Show:
- Bright Red
- Mauritius Blue Metallic
- Cosmos Black Metallic
- Oxford Green Metallic
- Daytona Violet Metallic
Every color is paired with a standard M carbon roof that features distinctive M tri-color stripes. Completing the look are 20-inch dual-spoke Orbit Grey alloy wheels that are wrapped with summer performance tires.
M Sport Professional Styling
The exterior is further enhanced by the M Sport Professional package. This includes M Sport brakes with black calipers, M Shadowline lights, and Extended Shadowline exterior trim. The result is a sleek yet aggressive presence that stands out in any setting.
An Interior Designed for Driving Enthusiasts
Inside, the M850i Edition M Heritage features M Sport seats finished in BMW Individual Black Full Merino Leather and Alcantara, complete with a diamond-shaped upholstery pattern. Alcantara extends to the headliner, dashboard, and upper door panels.
M tri-color stitching adds a subtle performance touch, while non-illuminated M badges in the headrests emphasize exclusivity. Unique elements include a matte-finish carbon fiber center console, glass shift lever, and “M850i Edition M Heritage” and “1/500” inscriptions on the cupholder cover and doorsills.
Standard features include the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System and the Driving Assistance Professional Package, so every model comes fully equipped. The only decision you’ll have to make is which exterior color to go for.
V8 Power with All-Wheel Drive Precision
Under the hood is BMW’s legendary 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 that produces 523 HP and 553 lb-ft of torque. An 8-speed Steptronic transmission sends power to BMW’s xDrive AWD system, which sends power to all four wheels and allows the car to rocket from 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.
This is BMW performance at its finest – equal parts grand touring luxury and all-out Autobahn weapon.
Pricing and Availability
The 2026 BMW M850i Edition M Heritage has an MSRP of $130,400 plus $1,175 destination & handling. Considering the exclusivity, craftsmanship, and performance, that’s the kind of price tag that feels more like an investment than an expense.
Production is set for November 2025, so if you want one, you might want to start sweet-talking your BMW dealer now.
