Shelby American just pulled the wraps off of the 2026 Shelby F-250 Super Baja, and if you’ve been waiting for a heavy-duty truck that doesn’t ask you to choose between brutal off-road capability and serious towing muscle, your wait is over. The Super Baja is the first vehicle in a completely redesigned Shelby truck lineup, and it’s built from the ground up at Shelby Performance’s brand-new facility in Bristol, Indiana.

Only 250 units will be produced, and at $159,795, this one isn’t for the faint of wallet. But for buyers who want the pinnacle of what a diesel performance truck can be, it’s well worth it.

A Clean-Sheet Redesign Built on a Proven Platform

The Super Baja program has been around since 2021, but for 2026 Shelby essentially hit the reset button. Rather than iterating on what came beforehand, the team took a clean-sheet approach, rethinking everything from the suspension architecture to the exterior styling.

Gary Patterson, President of Shelby American, framed it plainly: “Shelby vehicles have always been pacesetters. Due to the incredible demand for a high performance three-quarter ton Shelby truck, it was the first in the 2026 lineup we tackled. Our team at Shelby American in Las Vegas worked closely with Shelby Performance on a ‘clean sheet’ approach. The result is another impressive, market-leading Shelby.”

The foundation is Ford’s F-250 Super Duty Lariat Ultimate 4×4 SuperCrew, which is one of the strongest platforms in the heavy-duty truck segment, paired with the 6.7-liter High-Output Power Stroke turbodiesel V8 and a 10-speed TorqShift automatic transmission. That engine produces 500 hp and a jaw-dropping 1,200 lb-ft of torque.

Exterior Styling That Means Business

Shelby didn’t just slap on a few badges and call it a day. No, the 2026 Super Baja gets a fully functional Air Induction Hood with painted extraction vents that actively pull cooler air into the engine bay — especially useful when you’re pushing hard through hot desert terrain. Up front, an Addictive Desert Designs high-clearance bumper integrates recovery points, airflow venting, SAE/DOT-compliant lighting, and a 40-inch LED light bar. The rear bumper adds dual 10-inch LED reverse lights.

Around the sides you’ll find painted OE-style fender flares with marker lights, Shelby’s active fender vents with the brand logo, XL power steps with rock sliders and integrated lighting, and powder-coated exhaust tips. The bed gets the Shelby Baja chase rack with a new nine-pod, power-actuated LED light bar, a notable step up from previous builds.

For personalization, 2026 is the most flexible year yet for the Super Baja. Six Le Mans-style vinyl stripe options (Gloss Blue, Gloss Gray, Gloss Red, Gloss Silver, Gloss White, and Matte Black) can be paired across nine exterior body colors. Buyers can also color-match the Shelby grille lettering to either the body color or the stripe.

The interior of the 2026 Super Baja features full top-grain leather seat covers with Shelby-specific embroidery, carbon fiber interior trim, billet racing pedals, embroidered floor mats, and digital gauges. Each truck also receives a CSM serialized plaque and engine bay plaque.

King Shocks Suspension Takes the Ride to Another Level

The biggest mechanical story of the new 2026 Super Baja is the move to a King Shocks-based suspension system, a significant upgrade over previous iterations of the truck. Shelby engineered a proprietary setup built around King Race Series 2.5 adjustable front coilovers with finned reservoirs, King 2.5 rear piggyback shocks, dual King steering stabilizers, and 2-inch tubular radius arms for improved suspension geometry.

The result is a truck that rides higher, travels farther in the suspension stroke, and stays composed at speed whether you’re hammering through a desert wash or cruising the highway.

Vince LaViolette, Vice President of Operations and Senior Designer at Shelby American, spoke to the years of development work behind the new setup: “Lessons learned through rigorous testing both on and off road resulted in a dual-purpose vehicle that can conquer jobs requiring maximum towing capacity and deliver serious driving adventure. That’s why the 2026 Shelby F-250 Super Baja is a significant leap forward in performance, durability and styling.”

Tires are 37-inch BFGoodrich KM3 Mud-Terrains mounted on 20-inch two-tone off-road alloys — six total, with two full-size spares mounted on the bed’s chase rack. Buyers in snow country can swap to the BFGoodrich KO3 All-Terrain as an option. Shelby recalibrates the TPMS and speedometer and performs a four-wheel alignment before every truck leaves the facility.

Towing Capacity That Rivals Work Trucks

For all the off-road bravado, the Super Baja is equally serious when it comes to actual truck work. The combination of the high-output Power Stroke diesel and the reinforced Shelby suspension gives it a towing capacity of up to 22,000 pounds — best-in-class territory for a three-quarter ton platform.

LaViolette didn’t understate it: “The three-quarter ton Shelby F-250 Super Baja can fluidly move over most any terrain, tow up to 22,000 pounds and looks really cool while doing it. These amazing vehicles are the pinnacle of the heavy duty truck market.”
