Luc Donckerwolke, President and Chief Creative Officer of Genesis, explained the philosophy behind the car: “The Magma GT Concept represents the pinnacle of our performance vision and stands as a symbol of our commitment to true motorsport capability. It isn’t defined by raw aggression or uncompromising speed—it is defined by balance. This is a car that feels instinctively connected to its driver, composed under pressure, and meticulously tuned so that every component serves a single purpose: to make performance effortless.”

Race-Ready Design DNA

Every line on the Magma GT Concept screams motorsport. The low-slung bonnet flows into an elongated roofline, while muscular rear fenders pay homage to classic GT race cars. But this isn’t just retro cosplay, the design serves real aerodynamic purpose.

Key performance features include front canards integrated seamlessly with the headlamps for enhanced downforce, G-Matrix aerodynamic patterns that expand from the front splitter like functional wings, and a boat-tail cabin design that creates that essential “low and wide” racing stance. The rear end features a mechanical two-line lamp graphic and a fully optimized aero structure that plants this machine to the pavement.

Why This Time Feels Different

Genesis has teased halo cars before. Remember the X Gran Berlinetta concept that appeared at last year’s Genesis Magma Racing launch, complete with what sounded like V-8 power during demo laps? Or the Bentley Continental GT-inspired X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible concepts from April? Even the X Gran Equator hinted at a performance SUV. Sadly, none of those have reached production yet.

But the Genesis Magma GT Concept arrives with something its predecessors lacked: a clear development roadmap and public commitment from Hyundai leadership. Since current GT racing classes require internal combustion engines, we can reasonably expect any production version to pack conventional ICE power, potentially that throaty V-8 we’ve heard in other Genesis performance concepts.
