Insomnia Cookies Is Bringing Their Fresh-Baked Cookies To Philly Airport
If you have ever found yourself craving a warm, gooey cookie at 2am, you already know about Insomnia Cookies. And now, this Philly-born late-night legend is about to become your new favorite airport snack when you’re catching a red-eye or landing after a long trip.
The Hometown Hero Returns
That’s right people, Insomnia Cookies is opening its first-ever airport location at Philadelphia International Airport in spring 2026, and honestly, it’s about damn time. The bakery chain that started as a college kid’s dorm room hustle in 2003 is coming back to its roots in a major way, setting up shop in Terminal C as part of PHL’s “Founded in Philly” initiative.
For those keeping score at home, this puts Insomnia Cookies alongside other local favorites like Middle Child, Federal Donuts & Chicken, and Oyster House. Not bad company for a brand that started with University of Pennsylvania student Seth Berkowitz delivering cookies to hungry classmates.
Open When You Need It Most
Here’s where it gets really good: this isn’t going to be some watered-down airport version that closes at 7pm. The Philly Airport location will be open from 11am until 1am Sunday through Wednesday, and until 3am Thursday through Saturday. That means whether you’re catching a late morning flight or your delayed connection finally boards at midnight, fresh-baked cookies are within reach.
The location will be near the Terminal C security checkpoint, right next to Bud & Marilyn’s, and they’ll be serving up the full Insomnia menu of:
- Classic cookies like Chocolate Chunk, Snickerdoodle, and Peanut Butter Chip
- Deluxe cookies and brownies
- “Cookies IN Ice Cream,” Insomnia’s signature dessert mashup
- Travel-friendly gift boxes and other grab-and-go sweets
Can you say YUM?!
From Dorm Room to Global Empire
What makes this story even better is the full-circle moment it represents. Seth Berkowitz, who founded the company while studying at Penn, has grown Insomnia Cookies from a scrappy delivery operation into a global chain with over 300 locations. And they’re not stopping there, as the company has plans to expand to as many as 1,800 stores over the next decade.
But even with all that growth, Insomnia’s headquarters, flagship bakery, and innovation hub have stayed right here in Philadelphia. That’s loyalty.
“Philadelphia is our hometown, and we’re excited to bring our warm, delicious cookies to Philadelphia International Airport,” said Seth Berkowitz, CEO and Founder of Insomnia Cookies. “This strategic collaboration marks a significant milestone in our growth trajectory, proving the success of our channel expansion strategy and our ability to reach Insomniacs in unparalleled ways. By embedding the brand deeper into travel environments, we reaffirm our commitment to satisfying the cravings of Insomniacs wherever they are and lead the industry in indulgent innovation.”
Why This Matters for Philly
Kate Sullivan, Chief Commercial Officer for the Department of Aviation, captured what makes this announcement so cool:
“Insomnia Cookies is one of Philadelphia’s many original business success stories, and we’re excited to see them serving up their delicious, warm cookies to air travelers. As a brand that started only a few miles from the airport, Insomnia embodies our city’s entrepreneurial spirit and adds even more local flavor to our concessions program.”
The airport location will be operated by Airport Dining, run by restaurateur Hakan Ilhan, who already manages Bud & Marilyn’s, Good Luck Restaurant & Bar, and Sabrina’s Cafe at PHL. So you know the operation will be tight.
The Bottom Line
Look, airport food usually ranges from mediocre to “I guess I’ll eat this because I’m starving.” But Insomnia Cookies landing at PHL changes the game. Now you’ve got a legitimate reason to show up early for your flight, or at least a solid backup plan when your departure gets delayed.
“Passengers love exploring local favorites when they pass through PHL, and Insomnia Cookies will be a perfect addition to our growing ‘Founded in Philly’ offerings,” said Mel Hannah, Vice President and General Manager of MarketPlace PHL. “This new location brings one of Philly’s most beloved late-night traditions to travelers from around the world.”
Spring 2026 can’t come soon enough. Just remember to save room in your carry-on for a box of warm cookies. Trust us, you’re going to want them!
