Electrification might be the future, but Lamborghini isn’t ready to give up the visceral thrill of a combustion-only race car just yet. The Italian brand has unveiled the Lamborghini Temerario Super Trofeo, a rear-wheel-drive, twin-turbo V8 monster that drops all hybrid tech in favor of pure racing performance.

Unveiled during the Lamborghini World Finals at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, the Temerario Super Trofeo will hit the track in 2027, joining the Asian, European, and North American Super Trofeo championships. This marks the sixth generation of Lamborghini’s one-make race car series since it launched back in 2009 with the Gallardo.

“In 2009 we made the bold decision to launch the Gallardo Super Trofeo. Lamborghini was not born as a racing brand, yet our customers have constantly asked us for a product designed for the track,” said Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “Over the years, Super Trofeo and customer racing have become a true pillar of our long-term company strategy, strengthening the bond between the brand & its most passionate clients. With the Temerario Super Trofeo we are taking another step, reaffirming our promise to deliver a pure race car for the growing community that joins us during the Lamborghini Super Trofeo weekends.”

A Racing Evolution of the Temerario GT3

The new Super Trofeo follows the Temerario GT3 shown at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this year, and shares much of its engineering DNA. Both cars are powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, sending 641 horsepower to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential transmission. The gearbox comes straight from the GT3 model, built by Hoer, offering lightning-fast shifts designed for serious racing environments.

“The Temerario Super Trofeo is the ultimate expression of our ‘fun-to-drive’ philosophy,” explained Rouven Mohr, Chief Technical Officer of Automobili Lamborghini. “We created a car that is the pure racing evolution of the road-going Temerario. Thanks to its direct link to the Temerario GT3, which shares many components, including the engine and gearbox — it is the ideal entry point for those eager to experience the world of GT competition.”

Lightweight, Aerodynamic, and Track-Ready

Built on an ALU/CFK hybrid chassis with a fully integrated FIA-compliant roll cage, the Temerario Super Trofeo is engineered for performance and safety. The exterior takes on a more extreme aerodynamic profile than its street-going sibling, complete with a massive rear wing, race-spec diffuser, and wide-body stance that screams aggression.

It’s fitted with ABS braking, a 12-point adjustable traction control system, and specialized hardware from Lamborghini’s trusted partners: Pertamina for lubricants, Capristo for the exhaust system, KW for suspension, and BMC Air Filters for optimal breathing.

Inside, the Super Trofeo debuts Dinamica Infinity, the first-ever 100% PES mono-component non-woven suede material used in automotive interiors. This advanced material, covering the dashboard, represents the next evolution of Dinamica and blends Italian craftsmanship with futuristic design.

Bridging Road Cars and Racing

The Temerario Super Trofeo serves as the spiritual successor to the Huracán Super Trofeo, which dominated the series from 2015 through 2025. Over those years, more than 1,383 drivers competed in 563 races across Europe, Asia, North America, and the Middle East, cementing Lamborghini’s reputation in customer racing.

The new Temerario builds on that legacy, offering a rear-wheel-drive, non-hybrid alternative to the hybridized road-going Temerario Stradale, which boasts 787 horsepower with electric assistance. This race-only version sheds weight and complexity for sharper handling and rawer performance.

While the Temerario Super Trofeo won’t see street duty, it’s hard not to imagine Lamborghini taking inspiration from it for a future road-legal RWD special edition—just like the Huracán STO that evolved from its track twin.

Looking Ahead to 2027

The new Lamborghini Temerario Super Trofeo is set to make its competition debut in the 2027 racing season, marking a new chapter in Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s customer racing history. With its aggressive styling, lightweight construction, and raw, turbocharged power, this is the kind of machine that keeps the spirit of Lamborghini’s racing DNA alive.

For fans who dream of seeing the raging bull unleashed without restrictions, the Temerario Super Trofeo is as close as it gets to perfection on four wheels – no hybrid, no nonsense, just pure Italian fury.
