Matt Damon and Ben Affleck Reunite For Netflix Cop Thriller ‘The Rip’
Netflix just dropped the trailer for The Rip, and it’s safe to say Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are back at it – this time in a gritty Miami cop thriller that promises tension, betrayal, and plenty of action.
The premise is simple but intense: a team of Miami cops discovers millions in cash in a rundown stash house, and trust quickly unravels. When outside forces catch wind of the haul, loyalties are tested, and everyone’s question becomes – who can you really rely on?
Joining Damon (Lieutenant Dane Dumars) and Affleck (Det. Sergeant JD Byrne) is a solid supporting cast including Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Sasha Calle, Néstor Carbonell, Lina Esco, Scott Adkins, and Kyle Chandler. With Joe Carnahan at the helm as writer-director, you can expect slick action and tense character-driven moments. Carnahan told Tudum that the story was inspired by his friend’s real-life experiences in Miami-Dade narcotics and his love for classic ’70s cop films like Serpico and Prince of the City, with a modern Heat-style edge.
Damon and Affleck aren’t just starring in the movie, they’re producing under their Artists Equity banner, along with Dani Bernfeld and Luciana Damon. Netflix is set to stream The Rip on January 16, 2026. If the trailer is any indication, this one’s going to hit hard with fans of crime thrillers and buddy-cop dynamics.
Watch the trailer above and start your speculation on which cop is going to crack first.
