Norwegian Aura

Norwegian Cruise Line just pulled back the curtain on Norwegian Aura, and this thing is a beast. We’re talking about their longest and largest ship to date, measuring nearly 1,130 feet and tipping the scales at 169,000 gross tons. If you’ve been eyeing a Caribbean getaway or just love massive floating resorts with every amenity imaginable, you’ll want to hear about this.

The ship launches in Europe in late May 2027 before making Miami its home base that June, where it’ll run seven-day Caribbean cruises. And yeah, it’s 10% bigger than Norwegian’s previous flagships, the Aqua and Luna.

Ocean Heights: Your New Favorite Playground

Norwegian Aura

Here’s where things get seriously fun. Norwegian Aura is debuting Ocean Heights, a massive open-air activities complex spanning decks 18 through 21. This isn’t your typical cruise ship pool deck – we’re talking about the most slides of any NCL ship, an 82-foot ropes course, rock climbing, mini golf, and even overhanging private cabanas.

The slide lineup alone is impressive. Eclipse Racers gives you dual mat racer waterslides stretching over 400 feet for head-to-head competition. The Aura Free Fall is a drop-in body slide where the floor literally opens beneath you, sending you down 250 feet of twists. The Wave is a pendulum-style raft that fits up to four people for 300 feet of chaos. And The Drop? That signature dry slide plunges you down 10 decks in seconds.

The complex also features Aura Midway, basically a carnival on the ocean with games and activities, plus bars scattered throughout so you’re never far from a cold one.

Ocean Boulevard Gets an Upgrade

The signature outdoor promenade wrapping around deck 8 just got 11% more space compared to previous ships. That means more seating, new hot tubs, an additional bar, and an expanded Infinity Beach area with luxury day beds and wading pools.

The main pool deck is over 20% larger than what you’ll find on the Aqua or Luna, making it the biggest in NCL’s entire fleet. You’re getting more seating, an extra infinity hot tub, a massive LED entertainment screen, and plenty of lounge space.

Up on deck 18, there’s a Kids’ Aqua Park for families, plus two additional waterslides – the Party Slide (wide enough for groups to ride together) and the Infinity Loop, a figure-eight slide that wraps around it.

For those wanting adult-only vibes, Vibe Beach Club is 15% larger than previous versions, with more sun loungers, daybeds, infinity hot tubs, and even a waterfall feature.

The Haven: Next-Level Luxury

Norwegian Aura

If you’re ready to go all-out, The Haven by Norwegian is getting a serious upgrade. Norwegian Aura features 30% more suites than previous Prima Class ships, 159 suites total in this keycard-access-only complex.

Designed by Italian designer Piero Lissoni, these suites come with private elevator access, a dedicated sundeck with panoramic infinity pool, two hot tubs, and an outdoor sauna and cold room. The Haven also has its own restaurant, bar, and lounge.

“We are proud to introduce the newest, and largest, addition to our fleet, Norwegian Aura,” said Harry Sommer, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. “Norwegian Aura represents the evolution of Norwegian Cruise Line and the celebration of bringing together families, friends and travelers from around the world. With brilliance and connection at her core, the ship was created to give all guests the freedom to vacation their very own way – offering the chance to exhale, connect and effortlessly escape into the moment. We look forward to this next milestone and can’t wait for guests to experience all that Norwegian Aura has to offer.”

Brilliant Hull Art

The hull features custom artwork by international artist Rosie Woods, known for large-scale murals. Her design draws inspiration from celestial light and bioluminescent seas—so this ship is going to look incredible pulling into port.

Woods said: “I’m thrilled to partner with Norwegian Cruise Line, who has been known for showcasing beautiful, cutting-edge hull art designs. I’m so excited to see my large-scale piece of artwork come to life, sail across the seas and illuminate day and night.”

Where It’s Going

Norwegian Aura

Norwegian Aura kicks off with a 7-day Mediterranean voyage from Trieste, Italy to Barcelona, Spain on May 21, 2027, hitting Malta, Salerno, and Rome along the way.

After a 14-day transatlantic crossing, the ship arrives in Miami for its inaugural Caribbean season. From June through October 2027, you’re looking at seven-day Eastern Caribbean itineraries hitting Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, Tortola, and Great Stirrup Cay—NCL’s private island in the Bahamas that just got major upgrades including a sprawling pool complex and the upcoming Great Tides Waterpark with 19 waterslides.

Winter 2027/28 switches to Western Caribbean routes with stops in Roatan, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Harvest Caye in Belize.
