Bentley Torcal Revealed: The First Electric Bentley Is Here, And It Means Business

After 107 years of V8 thunder, W12 muscle and hybrid refinement, Bentley has finally gone fully electric. The all-new Bentley Torcal just made its global debut in London, and it’s not a science project or a compromise. It is a fast, lavish, craftsmanship-obsessed SUV that Bentley says is a blueprint for every Bentley that follows.

Bentley CEO Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser clearly believes the company nailed it. “The Torcal is a Bentley first and foremost, created by hand by people who care, using the best available materials and technology to blend heritage with cutting-edge innovation. I believe this is one of the best Bentleys ever.”

Meet the Torcal: Bentley’s Fourth Model Line

The Torcal becomes the brand’s fourth model line and completes what Bentley calls the luxury of choice, adding a fully electric option alongside its existing gas and hybrid cars. It’s designed, engineered and built in Crewe, England, with a network of UK suppliers behind it, which Bentley calls a significant investment in British manufacturing.

It is also the smallest four-door Bentley you can buy. At about 197 inches long, it is shorter than the rest of the lineup, yet it still offers about 16 cubic feet of trunk space plus roughly 3 cubic feet of storage up front. Under the skin, it is reported to ride on the same 800-volt PPE platform as the Porsche Cayenne Electric, though Bentley is focused on luxury rather than raw numbers.

“For 107 years, Bentleys have been the most incredibly complete cars – effortless performance, outstanding comfort, exquisite British handcraftsmanship using the best natural materials, and a soundtrack with soul. Our new Torcal sets extraordinary benchmarks in every area that matters,” said the Bentley CEO.

Design: Low, Sleek and Unmistakably Bentley

Design Director Robin Page and the Crewe team built a low, sleek SUV with a bold new design language. Page explains the thinking behind it: “When we design a Bentley, we consider how people naturally perceive an object. You don’t experience a car all at once. There is a hierarchy to what you see and understand, which we describe through four ‘reads’”

Those four reads break down like this:

  • Proportion: A long wheelbase, short overhangs and a proud nose create a powerful stance, paired with the classic Bentley “endless bonnet.”
  • Graphics: An illuminated diamond grille and advanced lighting echo the iconic Continental T, while a clean rear creates what designers call the “prestigious shield.”
  • Surfaces: Fewer lines and big, muscular rear haunches give the Torcal a “resting beast” look.
  • Details: The diamond motif runs through the whole car, sometimes bold, sometimes subtle.

The Torcal is also the first Bentley to wear the redesigned winged emblem the brand revealed last year.

Performance: 876 HP + The Most Torque Ever In A Bentley

Here is where it gets fun. The Torcal S delivers up to 876 hp and 996 lb-ft of torque, the most torque of any Bentley ever built. That is enough to launch it from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. Two permanent magnet synchronous motors handle the work, with a locking differential on the rear motor.

Bentley says it limited the output on purpose, because most customers would find acceleration beyond this level uncomfortable. The goal was a car that feels accessible and progressive rather than violent.

Range and Charging

  • Battery: 113 kWh net capacity, 800V architecture
  • Range: Up to 375 miles (WLTP rating)
  • Fast charging: 10 to 80 percent in about 16 to 20 minutes at 400 kW
  • Quick top-up: Around 100 miles of range in just seven minutes
  • Warranty: 100,000 miles or 10 years on the battery

(Keep in mind the 375-mile figure is a European WLTP number, and EPA-rated range for US buyers is typically lower)

Chassis Tech: A Magic Carpet With Teeth

For the first time, a Bentley gets fully active suspension. Each damper can be raised or lowered independently and instantly, reacting to the road and to your inputs. The system replaces traditional anti-roll bars, and Bentley says it delivers a true “magic carpet” ride with sharp body control.

Standard electronic all-wheel steering, with rear wheels turning up to five degrees, shrinks the turning circle to about 36 feet, which is handy in tight city parking. Iron brakes come standard with 16.5-inch front discs and 14.6-inch rears. You can upgrade to carbon silicon carbide ceramics with 17.3-inch front discs, which Bentley says are jointly the largest in the world.

Bentley sums up the Torcal’s range of talents as being as comfortable as a Flying Spur and as dynamic as a Continental GT Speed.

The Sound: Musicians Instead of Speakers Faking It

Instead of piping in fake engine noise, Bentley recorded real musicians. Drums, viola and bass guitar were used to create the Bentley Dynamic Symphony, modeled on the beat of the brand’s 6¾ liter V8, imperfections included. The sound responds to torque demand and speed, gets louder in Sport mode and can be switched off.

Even the small sounds got a human touch. The turn signal is a hammer striking leather recorded in Bentley’s upholstery workshop, and the touchscreen chime is a crystal glass.

Audio fans can choose a 620-watt, 16-speaker system or step up to a Naim setup with 1,780 watts, 28 speakers, seat shakers, front headrest speakers and Dolby Atmos 7.1.

Inside: Wool, Walnut and Four Moods

The cabin pairs curved OLED screens, unique to Bentley, with real knurled controls and physical buttons where you want them. Standard seats offer 16-way adjustment, heating, ventilation and a new massage function, and the rear bench folds electrically for the first time in a Bentley.

Four Experience Modes tie lighting, sound, climate and screen content together:

  • Bentley: warm, balanced and driver-focused
  • Comfort: calm, with an optional digital detox that hides most screen info
  • Sport: a more immersive soundtrack and focused visuals
  • Refresh: brighter lighting and more fresh air to recharge you

The materials stand out too. Working with Somerset firm Fox Brothers, Bentley developed what it calls the world’s first 100% Merino wool automotive fabric. Mulliner contributes Ombré Walnut, built from up to 1,000 layers of walnut off-cuts and recycled paper sliced thinner than 0.04 inch, and Sunburst Aluminium, a modern take on classic engine-turned dashboards. There are 15 leather shades, including new Teal, Terra and Glaze.

Tech extras include facial recognition to load your seat and driver-assist settings, a phone that works as your key, an augmented reality head-up display, 25 sensors, radars and cameras, remote parking via app, and four self-opening and closing doors. A new Frosted Diamond switchable-glass sunroof rounds it out.

The S adds black exterior brightware, dark rear lamps, a rear diffuser, sports sills, red calipers, sports pedals, piano black veneer, illuminated treadplates and dynamic “waterfall” mood lighting.

How Much Does the Torcal Cost?

Pricing is still settling, and reports vary. One report has the US starting price at $218,000, with the Torcal S at $258,000, while another lists $230,000 for the core model and $270,000 for the S. Either way, it is expected to cost less than half of Ferrari’s electric Luce, and Bentley says about 40% of people interested so far have never owned a Bentley.

Pre-orders are expected to open soon, with production scheduled for the second quarter of 2027, so expect US deliveries sometime in 2027.

The Bottom Line

The Torcal is Bentley’s answer to a question many fans were nervous to ask: can an electric Bentley still feel like a Bentley? Bentley says it’s been engineered with great care to ensure it remains a Bentley to its core, from luxury, to refinement and effortless performance.

With supercar-level acceleration, a 375-mile WLTP range, a wild handcrafted soundtrack and a cabin full of wool, walnut and crystal-clear screens, the Torcal looks like a serious statement. We’ll be watching for final US pricing and the first drive reviews.
