Fallout S2 4K UHD Steelbook Review: The Wasteland Never Looked This Good

Fallout: Season 2

If you were one of the millions glued to your screen when Fallout dropped on Prime Video, you already know the feeling; that rare, electric thrill of a video game adaptation that actually gets it right. And Fallout Season 2 doesn’t just live up to the hype. It blows past it.

Now, Alliance Home Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios have released it on a variety of physical media (4K UHD Steelbook, 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD), and we can say without hesitation, the limited-edition Fallout Season 2 Amazon Exclusive 4K UHD Steelbook is absolutely the one you need to get!

Venturing Into The Mojave

Season 2 picks up right where the jaw-dropping Season 1 finale left off, trading the ruins of Los Angeles for the sprawling, sun-scorched Mojave Wasteland. Lucy (Ella Purnell), Maximus (Aaron Moten), and everyone’s favorite irradiated anti-hero The Ghoul (Walton Goggins) make their way toward the post-apocalyptic glitter and grime of New Vegas. It’s a journey that feels both true to the beloved game series and wildly cinematic in its own right.

Kyle MacLachlan joins the ensemble this season in a role that adds serious dramatic weight, while Moisés Arias, Frances Turner, and a wildly fun Macaulay Culkin round out a cast that somehow keeps getting better. Showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner have crafted something that respects the Bethesda source material while carving out its own identity, which is no small feat.

Collider’s Therese Lacson called it “a wholly unique sci-fi series that had no equal,” and we could not agree more.

The Limited Edition Steelbook: A Collector’s Dream

Fallout: Season 2 Amazon Exclusive 4K UHD Steelbook

While Fallout Season 2 is available in a variety of physical media, as super fans of the show (and the game before it), we absolutely had to get our hands on the Limited Edition Amazon Exclusive 4K UHD Steelbook. And let me tell you, Alliance Home Entertainment really knocked it out of the park… er, vault.

The Limited Edition Amazon Exclusive 4K UHD Steelbook is a gorgeous piece of shelf candy. The artwork is striking – moody, atmospheric, and worthy of the world it represents. But the real treat? The 8 collectible art cards packed inside. Each one is a mini-poster in its own right, the kind of thing you’ll want to frame rather than stuff in a drawer.

Naturally, the 4K UHD presentation is stunning. The Mojave Wasteland’s bleached yellows and deep shadows pop with HDR precision, and the retro-futuristic production design (all those Vault-Tec colors and 1950s-meets-nuclear-nightmare aesthetics) has never looked sharper. If you’ve got a decent 4K setup at home, this is a showcase disc.

Bonus Content Worth Your Time

Fallout S2

Eight episodes spread across three discs, plus over 30 minutes of bonus features that are actually worth watching (a rarity, we know). Here’s what you get:

  • Commentary: Inside Episode 8 – “The Strip” with Kyle MacLachlan and Aaron Moten, genuinely entertaining and full of behind-the-scenes insight
  • Welcome Back to the Wasteland – a featurette that digs into the production’s ambitious new setting
  • New Vegas – featurette gives a closer look at bringing the iconic in-game city to life on screen
  • Fallout: Fake Talkshow – a hilarious cast interview that leans hard into the show’s irreverent humor
  • RobCo Animated Series Shorts – a fun bonus that expands the universe in an unexpected way
  • Fallout: The Ghoul Log – more Walton Goggins being incredible. That’s it. That’s the pitch.

The Verdict

Fallout Season 2 is the rare sequel that improves on everything that made the first season so great – bigger stakes, a richer world, and a cast firing on all cylinders. ComicBook.com said it “delivers laughs and shocks” and is “endlessly impressive,” and we couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

The Limited Edition Amazon Exclusive 4K UHD Steelbook is the way to go. It’s a beautiful physical release in an era where those are increasingly rare, it’s loaded with bonus content, and it’s presented in a format that does full justice to one of the best-looking shows on TV.

If you’re a die-hard Fallout fan, this one certainly belongs on your shelf.
