Ford just dropped a new trim in the Mustang GTD lineup that is sure to have people drooling over. Debuting this week at the legendary Laguna Seca Raceway, the Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon takes everything we love about the beastly Mustang GTD and strips it down to its bare essentials.. literally.

With its exposed carbon fiber bodywork, a weight-saving design, and the Performance package standard on the Liquid Carbon trim, this track-inspired monster is ready to turn heads on the street and eat up asphalt on the track.

Carbon Fiber, Front and Center

Carbon fiber has long been the material of choice in top-level racing, from IMSA to Formula 1, thanks to its ultra-lightweight strength. The GTD Liquid Carbon follows in that tradition, skipping a trip to the paint booth and replacing key sheet metal panels with bonded carbon fiber. The result? About 13 pounds of weight savings compared to a Mustang GTD Carbon Series equipped with the Performance package.

“Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon is the ultimate expression of the Mustang GTD’s high-tech, high-performance construction and is a reminder of the race-derived, cutting-edge capability that sits beneath the surface of every Mustang GTD. The Mustang GTD is a great looking car and now it stands out even more with its striking exposed carbon body and functional aero elements,” said Mustang GTD Chief Program Engineer Greg Goodall.

Precision in Every Detail

Ford isn’t just slapping some carbon weave onto the GTD and calling it a day. Every section, from the hood and roof to the rear deck and wing, is carefully aligned for a flawless look. Even the fenders and side panels match up with the central dorsal elements, creating a seamless flow across the body.

The Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon also features a few unique touches, like slick black Brembo calipers and gloss-black GTD script. And since the Performance package comes standard, this trim doesn’t just look fast, it’s built for serious track action.

“High performance requires high precision. When we were designing Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon, it was essential that these small details were present, because they speak to the care and attention required to both build a vehicle like Mustang GTD and to compete and win on the world’s stage with Mustang GT3,” said Mustang GTD Design Manager Anthony Colard.

A Race-Ready Interior with Style

Step inside, and the GTD Liquid Carbon doesn’t hold back. The cabin combines black leather with Dinamica microfiber suede, accented by Hyper Lime stitching on the seats, door panels, console, and steering wheel. A reflective gradient strip runs down the center of the seats, adding a pop of flair to the otherwise focused interior.

It’s equal parts race car cockpit and luxury sports car cabin (well maybe that’s a stretch, but it’s rather nice nonetheless), giving drivers the best of both worlds.

More Choices for GTD Buyers

With the arrival of the GTD Liquid Carbon, buyers now have more options than ever. Between the standard GTD, Spirit of America edition, Carbon Series, and now the new Liquid Carbon trim, owners can decide just how much exposed carbon fiber they want showing on their ride.

The first Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon deliveries are expected in October 2025, and we can’t wait to see one of these bad boys in the flesh. Ford has been knocking it out of the park with the GTD’s color palette, but this bare carbon fiber look might just be my favorite!
