TAG Heuer’s New F1 Smartwatch Is Built For Race Fans
If you’re a Formula 1 fan and also love quality watches, TAG Heuer just combined both worlds in one titanium package. The Swiss luxury watchmaker has officially unveiled the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5 45mm x Formula 1, a limited-edition smartwatch that doesn’t just borrow the F1 badge, it’s built from the ground up to keep you locked into every session, from Friday practice to the checkered flag. This is a watch that lives and breathes race weekends.
A Legacy That Goes Way Beyond the Logo
TAG Heuer’s relationship with motorsport isn’t a recent marketing move, it goes back decades. The brand has partnered with legendary teams like Ferrari and McLaren, worked alongside icons like Ayrton Senna and Steve McQueen, and most recently aligned with Oracle Red Bull Racing. TAG Heuer also served as Official Timekeeper of Formula 1 from 1992 to 2003, a role it has now reclaimed.
Its precision timing has measured victories and podiums across more than 230 Grand Prix, 15 FIA Formula 1 Drivers’ World Championship titles, and 11 FIA Formula 1 Constructors’ World Championship titles, helping to define the legends of the sport. So when TAG Heuer puts the F1 name on a watch, it’s well earned.
Every Grand Prix Weekend, Right on Your Wrist
This isn’t just a watch with a race-themed dial. The Connected Calibre E5 x Formula 1 is built around a fully immersive F1 experience that runs throughout the entire season. The hero watch face (called the Race Track) is the crown jewel of the software experience. It displays a digital racetrack silhouette that automatically changes for each of the 24 Grand Prix weekends, complete with the country flag and race name.
A moving dot travels around the circuit outline to indicate the passing seconds. It’s a small touch, but exactly the kind of obsessive detail that F1 fans will geek out over. At the center of the experience, is the exclusive The Formula 1 app, a direct line to the championship.
The app gives you access to the full season calendar, qualifying and race schedules, post-race results, and driver and constructor standings, all without leaving your wrist. Smart widgets surface key updates at a glance, so you never have to pull out your phone to find out what’s happening on track.
The watch also features animated bezel markings that track FP1, FP2, FP3, Q1, Q2, Q3, and race day, and custom notifications designed to feel like pit wall radio calls. It’s the kind of connected experience that makes wearing this watch on race weekend genuinely addictive.
Built Like a Racing Machine: The Hardware Specs
The physical watch is pure business. The 45mm case is crafted from brushed and sandblasted Grade 2 titanium with a black DLC coating; tough, lightweight, and sharp-looking. The curved touchscreen bezel displays the phases of a Grand Prix weekend, and the pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock carry red lacquer accents that tie into the F1 color palette. The Formula 1 logo on the caseback reinforces the collaboration’s high-octane identity.
Under the hood, the Calibre E5 runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 5100+ chipset, an AMOLED 1.39″ display (454×454, 326 dpi), and TAG Heuer’s own OS. Battery life sits at 2 days with full performance or 3 days in Low Power Mode, with fast charging that delivers a full day of use in just 30 minutes.
For fitness and outdoors use, the sensor suite is comprehensive: heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen saturation, sleep tracking, breathing rate, heart rate variability, steps counter, barometer, and dual-band GNSS (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, QZSS, Galileo). Connectivity covers BT 5.3, Wi-Fi, and MFi. Water resistance is rated to 50 meters.
Two Straps, Both Built for Speed
The watch ships with two specially crafted straps. The primary strap pairs black leather with a carbon fiber pattern and a black rubber base, finished with red stitching that gives a nod to the classic F1 color codes.
The second is a flexible stretch textile strap with a self-fastener closing system, designed for sports use or sleep tracking, while staying true to the Grand Prix character.
Packaging That Makes the Unboxing Worth Filming
Even the box delivers. The special packaging mirrors the Formula 1 DNA, with matte black, soft-touch surfaces, and glossy checkered patterns that echo the finish line flag. Precision-cut panels open in a multi-stage motion to reveal the watch, combining luxury and motorsport-inspired visual cues for an unforgettable unboxing experience.
It’s the kind of unboxing experience that makes it genuinely hard to throw away the box.
A Season on Your Wrist
TAG Heuer paints quite the picture with this quote:
Lights out. Engines roar. Every heartbeat counts. The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5 45mm x Formula 1 channels that intensity into a companion that moves with the rhythm of the season. Wearing it feels like sliding into the cockpit, sharing the precision, focus and daring that define the world’s greatest drivers. It ignites with the adrenaline of every lap, celebrating the performance and passion that follows the wearer long after the checkered flag falls.
If that doesn’t want to make you slip this bad boy onto your wrist, I don’t know what will!
