Koenigsegg Reclaims the Crown

Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut Reclaims 0–400–0 km/h World Record

Koenigsegg is back on top. On August 7, 2025, at the Örebro airfield in Sweden, factory test driver Markus Lundh piloted the Jesko Absolut into the record books, reclaiming the coveted 0–400–0 km/h world record for homologated road cars.

The new benchmark? A mind-bending 25.21 seconds, eclipsing the company’s own previous record from June 2024 and setting a new standard for what’s possible in a production car.

Software Innovation: “Absolut Overdrive”

Interestingly, the record was achieved using the same Jesko Absolut from last year’s run, but with one serious upgrade. Koenigsegg engineers introduced a set of new software strategies dubbed “Absolut Overdrive.”

These updates will be rolled out to customer cars, meaning owners of the Jesko Absolut will soon have access to the same tech that made this historic run possible.

“This run demonstrated the power of cross functional teamwork and exceptional communication between our in-house developed drivetrain systems,” said Christian von Koenigsegg, Founder and CEO. “It’s a testament to the synergies between our engineering & development teams, our cutting-edge software architecture, and avant garde class leading mechanical solutions.”

Record-Breaking Performance

Despite less-than-ideal conditions (a track still drying from earlier rainfall), the Jesko Absolut delivered staggering numbers, thanks to its twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8, ultra-low drag coefficient, and advanced traction control strategies.

Here are the verified results from the record-setting run:

  • 0–400–0 km/h – 25.21 seconds
  • 0–400 km/h – 16.77 seconds
  • 400–0 km/h – 8.44 seconds
  • 0–250–0 mph – 25.67 seconds
  • 0–250 mph – 17.18 seconds
  • 250–0 mph – 8.49 seconds

For context, this shaved more than 2.5 seconds off the Jesko Absolut’s own previous record time of 27.83 seconds set in 2024.

Rewriting the “Truths” of Performance Cars

Christian von Koenigsegg comments on the improvements made since last year’s record run:

“Our software engineers have been tweaking and adjusting the Light Speed Transmission & Engine Management system and have introduced a new torque control system which manages the grip of the Absolut like never before.

That we achieve this level of performance with a production car utilizing a combustion engine with rear wheel drive only – beating all 4-wheel drive electric cars in a straight line is almost magical and show that “truths” can be re-written.”

The run was verified using industry-standard Racelogic equipment and the recorded data was verified by Racelogic themselves.

The Fastest of the Fast

With this latest triumph, the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut cements itself as the ultimate road-legal speed machine. It’s not just about brute force, it’s about precision engineering, software innovation, and a relentless pursuit of performance.

For those lucky enough to own a Jesko Absolut, the fact that these improvements will be available in customer cars makes this record all the sweeter.
