Now I’ve Seen It All – Solar-Powered Bikinis?!

Published

on

While it may look like some kind of new cyber geek fetish wear, this panel-clad bikini is actually a way for beachgoers to charge up their electronics using the sun’s rays.

The brainchild of Brooklyn-based designer Andrew Schneider, the Solar Bikini can juice up iPhones and other small electronics, but remains completely safe to wear in the water.

It takes about 80 hours to make each bikini, hand-stitching super-slim, flexible photovoltaic film strips together using conductive thread.

This isn’t just some pie-in-the-sky concept – Schneider is currently accepting custom orders. No word on price though.

Trent Carter is looking to keep the tradition of T&A alive and well in today's politically correct world with his popular Thong Battle features, among other things. He also covers even racier topics on our sister site, which is definitely not safe for work!
