Stop Dieting!

When will people realize that a “diet” doesn’t work! A diet is about restriction and limits that eventually come to an end! Then what, maintain? Ooooh, that’s exciting get on the scale everyday and say, “Woohoo! I’m the same!” I don’t know anyone who gets excited about that!

Yes, the scale is important and losing weight to put you in a healthy range is also VERY important. It’s the “How” that we need to work on.

Most people when they decide to diet say things like, “I’m going to do it this time! I’m going to make drastic changes and lose weight!” I got news for you, losing weight is no big deal it’s a simple physics problem. Take in less calories then you burn and you lose weight. That’s it. So, the question shouldn’t be how do I lose weight the question should be, How do I get healthy? Because, guess what? You solve that one and the weight issue works itself out.

Change your life, don’t change your diet.

First, give up the worst thing you eat for 6 whole months! Examples, French Fries, Ice Cream, Milk Shakes, Bacon, Soda (NEVER DRINK YOUR CALORIES) anything that you know is really bad for you just give it up for 6 months. This will be your sacrifice to the health gods. You will also notice that when you come back to it in 6 months, you may not miss it as much as you thought you would!

Start looking at everything as a challenge to eat healthy. Restaurants are making this easier and easier with a lot more smaller portions or healthier options.

Decide that there is nothing you don’t like and try everything again for the “first time”! You don’t like fish, try it again, but go to a place that makes great fish and try it there! You don’t like a vegetable try it again, but look for a recipe that might give you a shot at liking it. Lastly, try it with the intention that it’s good for your body and not only offers you nourishment and satisfaction, but also VALUE to your body. I think I’m more excited about food with value then I am a good piece of cake! Well, I am now!

Get active, move your butt! Get your heart rate elevated for 30 (consecutive) minutes everyday, more if you can! Walk, run, dance, have sex, do something that elevates your heart rate for 30 minutes everyday! At lunch, pack something yummy and healthy and walk for a half hour and then eat it!

It’s not the complete solution, but it’s a start! Get moving!

I totally agree with this. While I’m not exactly the “healthiest” guy out there, I do understand how it works.

It’s a shame that in out society, skinny = healthy. That’s just completely false. It’s really not that hard to give up things like soda and fast food and all that other crap. Hell, that’s not even stuff you should be eating in the first place. It hardly qualifies as food.

Excellent point Anthony! And you don’t have to give it all up unless you are an addict and no you can’t do it once in a while. I still get fries at chickfila once in a while!

That’s so true. Having something “bad” every now and again is fine….especially when it’s Chic-fil-a, cause let’s be hones,t what man doesn’t love that?!
