6 Packing Tips You Should Know Before You Travel

If you are getting ready for your long-deserved vacation, then you will want to make sure that everything goes smoothly. Packing is the first opportunity for you to make a mistake, as you want to make sure that you have got everything you need, but not too many things that your journey is uncomfortable. Bringing too many things with you can be a bit of a burden, while not having enough will leave you feeling a bit restricted. Packing has an art to it, and the more experienced of a traveler you are, the easier time you’ll have making sure you’ve packed well.

Putting together a list

Before you start packing, you should start making your own checklist, just to make sure you don’t miss anything. That way, when you’re packing things up, you can check things off and go down the list until you’re done. It might sound like you’re overcomplicating an easy task, but you wouldn’t want to find out you’re missing something once you’re in another country! Think about all of the things you would need, like functional clothing, your phone, tickets, proof of ID, chargers for your electronics, and so on.

Pack your essentials separately

Items like your phone, passport and other travel documents are going to be needed on your trip. But if you’ve got all of these items buried in your suitcase, they’re not easily accessible when needed. As such, it’s always a good idea to bring a laptop backpack with a quick change of clothes, reading materials, your laptop/tablet, and any other essentials (passport, tickets, license) that you might need at a moment’s notice. After all, you’re not getting through any airport or country borders without being able to present some form of ID.

Don’t pack too many items

If you’re going to be moving around a lot, you should make sure that you’re not bringing too much luggage with you. Having to carry around a suitcase and other bags is a lot to have with you at all times, and it’s going to slow you down and prevent you from enjoying your trip. If you’re constantly on the road, you’re going to want to make sure you have an appropriate amount of things. If it can all fit into one carry case or one bag, it will make it much easier for you.

Packing light can be very challenging, but it’s all about identifying what you’re going to need at all times, as well as what you can get while you’re on your trip.

Pack your most important items last

Remember that once you arrive, you don’t want to have to dig through your suitcase just to find one item that you need on the same day you arrive. For example, if you’re planning to make the most of the evening once you’re there, make sure that your evening clothes are ready and waiting for you on top of all of your other items! Once you’ve disorganized your suitcase, it will make it messy for the next few days. For the sake of keeping it neat and organized, place what you need on top once you’ve packed the rest.

Store extra luggage

Sometimes you need more luggage than you can carry around, and that can be quite an issue. If there are times when you would be leaving your luggage in a hotel room for more than one evening, you should consider other options. You don’t have to be paying for a hotel room just to keep your luggage, it’s not cost-effective. Instead, you could consider using secure storage to keep a hold of it – and you can forget about it until you come back for it!

There’s secure luggage storage in Venice that you could make use of, and it will keep you from having to worry whether or not it’s safe or at risk of getting lost. Not only that, but storage is much cheaper than a hotel room!

Put your heaviest items at the bottom

When you’re packing your things, it can be hard to decide on the best placement of your items. One thing you must consider is that your heaviest items should never be on top of other things. Once you lift your suitcase to move it, the heavy items will flatten or damage anything that’s beneath them. If you’re bringing anything like a laptop, or gadgets or devices that are heavier than your clothes – be sure that you’ve placed them at the bottom where they can’t damage your other property.

Here’s hoping that you have a great trip and make memories that last a lifetime!
