I absolutely love IHOP’s Rooty Tooty Fresh ‘N Fruity pancakes (strawberries, please). I’m also a big fan of potato chips. But I’d never in my wildest dreams consider pairing those two flavor profiles together, as that just doesn’t make any sense.. or does it?

Apparently it does, as the Lay’s x IHOP Rooty Tooty Fresh ‘N Fruity chips have been getting rave reviews. The brainchild of Frito-Lay’s R&D teams and IHOP’s head chef Arthur Carl, these chips are said to deliver “the perfect flavor combo of classic IHOP pancakes, with sweet notes of strawberries and syrup, and a subtle touch of bacon for savory balance, all served up on the perfect golden and crispy potato chip.”

Can you say yum? Iconic snack meets iconic breakfast combo in a sweet and savory 1-2 punch. You can never go wrong with sweet and savory, am I right? (Double-checks calendar to make sure it’s not April 1st. Nope, it’s still March)

The Lay’s x IHOP Rooty Tooty Fresh ‘N Fruity chips are available exclusively at Walmart stores for a limited time. I checked my local Walmart for one after hearing about them, but all that was left was the empty endcap where it once was housed, the chips long gone. Man, talk about getting my hopes up for nothing.

If you’re curious enough to try them and just can’t find them in any stores, some people are selling them on eBay, albeit at inflated prices. At $2.48, I was willing to roll the dice and try them out for myself. But I don’t need them that bad!

Kudos to Frito-Lay’s and IHOP for this most unexpected of collaborations. I can only imagine what they come up with next!
