Netflix Movie Of The Week #6

I’m always looking for the next great indie film that’s available on Netflix instant queue, and I think I may have just found one of the most lovable, endearing, simple film about finding one’s destiny. Jeff Who Lives At Home is a quiet film that packs a lot of punch. It’s directed by the Duplass brothers, who have directed other indie gems such as Baghead and 2010’s Cyrus starring John C. Reilly and Jonah Hill. The Duplass brothers replace Reilly and Hill for another great pair: Jason Segel and The Office’s Ed Helms star as Jeff and Pat, two brothers on completely different life paths.

Jeff is a stoner who lives with his mother (played by Susan Sarandon), and he’s looking to find something meaningful in his life. Pat has a failing marriage and uses materialistic items such as cars to keep himself happy. They soon wind up on an adventure together where both find their meaning of existence. I’m trying to be as vague as possible because much of there journey seems to be random, but is it destiny?

Check out the trailer for the movie:

The chemistry between Segel and Helms is perfect, they feed off each other because much of the script is improv. This film has heart, something that most big budget films don’t have. This flick might have been destiny that I stumbled upon it. When reading about it further, I found that Jeff Who Lives At Home received incredible reviews, justifiably so.

Watching this light hearted dramedy will make you feel good with relatable yet flawed characters. Put this to the top of the queue and watch this with your family or loved ones. This charm will definitely rub off on you.

Have you seen Jeff Who Lives At Home? If so, what did you think of it?
