Race Day Ready: TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph X Indy 500 Is Here
TAG Heuer has a long history of putting the racetrack on your wrist, and their latest limited-edition watch makes that connection more literal than ever. The new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph X Indy 500 is the Swiss watchmaker’s 13th collaboration with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and it might be the most dialed-in yet.
What Makes This Watch Tick (Literally)
At the heart of the Formula 1 Solargraph X Indy 500 is TAG Heuer’s Solargraph movement, which was first introduced in 2025. As the name suggests, it runs on light (both natural and artificial), making the battery essentially a non-issue.
One minute of direct sunlight powers the watch for an entire day. A full charge, which takes under 40 hours of light exposure, keeps the watch running for up to ten months in complete darkness. And if it does stop entirely, just ten seconds of light exposure brings it back to life. The accumulator is rated for up to 15 years of lifespan, so this is a watch built to last.
The Design: Indy 500 DNA All Over It
The case measures 38mm in sandblasted steel, a reasonable size that wears cleanly without going oversized. The dial is deep black with brown minuterie giving it real depth and contrast, while the bidirectional TH Polylight bezel adds that signature Formula 1 character. Applied indexes with white Super-LumiNova keep things legible in any lighting condition, and the Mercedes-style hour hand is a nice nod to TAG Heuer’s motorsport lineage.
The Indy 500 connection isn’t subtle. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway logo appears on the dial, and flip it over and you’ll find the caseback engraved with the Indy 500 logo alongside a brick pattern – a direct reference to the legendary Yard of Bricks at the finish line of IMS.
It’s a small detail that’ll mean something to anyone who follows the race.
Built For Real-World Wear
Beyond the racing DNA, this is a practical everyday watch. The steel three-row bracelet is built for durability and comfort, and with 100m water resistance and a screw-down caseback, it can handle more than just trackside conditions. The date window at three o’clock integrates neatly into the dial without disrupting the overall balance.
Limited To 1,110 Pieces
TAG Heuer is keeping this one tight, with just 1,110 pieces available worldwide, each coming in dedicated packaging featuring the Indy 500 branding. The number is a nod to the race itself, and given that this is the brand’s thirteenth Indy 500 collaboration, it’s safe to say these won’t stick around long. For watch collectors with a soft spot for motorsport, or racing fans who want something meaningful on the wrist come race day, this is the one to watch for.
The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph X Indy 500 is on sale now, with an MSRP of $2,250.
