Aston Martin DBX GT: The Quiet Luxury SUV For Guys Who Don’t Need To Shout

Just because you own a rip-roaring 717 horsepower monster doesn’t mean you want the whole street to know about it. Introducing the Aston Martin DBX GT, a new take on their acclaimed SUV that dials up the luxury and comfort and keeps the thunder hidden underneath. It’s the same ferocious V8, wrapped in a calmer, richer, more refined package.

Think of it as the gentleman of the DBX family. Where the DBX S plays the sporting extrovert, the GT is built for drivers who value polish over aggression.

Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark explains: “DBX GT is aimed at customers who prefer assured elegance over sporting aggression and demand a higher degree of luxury. By refining the visual drama and elevating the interior with new elements of craftsmanship, the DBX GT delivers a true ultra-luxury experience; one which comes with no sacrifice in performance.”

Design: Quiet Luxury With A Watchmaker’s Touch

Park the GT next to a DBX S and the differences are subtle but deliberate. The headline change is a new double-vaned grille, available in a bright or dark finish. The split metal vanes flow into the outer vents and carry the Daytime Running Lights, which gives the lower front end more visual weight.

Along the flanks, the classic Aston side strake becomes a 2-piece metal piece with contrasting polished and satin finishes, a nod to traditional watchmaking. The lower front bumper, sills and rear diffuser are painted body colour as standard, which keeps the look clean.

Rolling stock is a new 22-inch forged wheel in Satin Titanium with a diamond-turned finish, wrapped in all-season tires chosen for ride comfort and low road noise. If you want a more aggressive stance, a 23-inch wheel and tire package is available. At the back, quad exhaust finishers sit in horizontal pairs with polished outers and satin anodized inners.

Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman sums up the approach: “Aston Martin is uniquely placed to combine ultra-luxury and performance. All our cars combine both, but each car finds a different balance, both visually and dynamically. With DBX GT we have taken a more discreet approach. One which downplays its outright performance and instead exudes a quiet charisma. Elegantly understated, yet safe in the knowledge it possesses the same performance and class-leading dynamics expected of a DBX.”

Inside The Cabin: Craftsmanship You Can Feel

This is where the GT really earns its name. The front and rear seats have been redesigned with extra cushioning, reshaped bolsters and bespoke embroidery. A memory foam layer about 0.4 inches thick has been added to the cushion structure for extra plushness, while the bolsters offer more lateral support.

There’s also a new individual rear seat layout with two sculpted positions, extended headrests and bolsters, while keeping 5-seat flexibility. A panoramic glass roof is now standard, so the whole cabin floods with natural light.

The details are the kind that make a man pause at the door:

  • Anodised metal drive mode rotary controller and secondary switchgear with a jewelry-quality finish
  • GT-specific monotone, duotone and tritone upholstery combinations with quilting, perforation and a unique embroidery pattern
  • Semi-aniline leather and deep pile floor mats
  • Each front seat takes more than four and a half hours of craftsmanship, using roughly 757 yards of thread and 3,297 perforation holes

Built For Peace And Quiet

Aston Martin put serious work into cutting noise. Improvements to the body structure, tighter cabin sealing, carefully placed sound deadening in the door panels, wheel arches and rear load space, and acoustic laminated rear side glass all help keep the outside world out. Deep pile carpets add to the effect.

The result is a 13% improvement in Articulation Index, the industry score for how easy it is to hold a conversation on the move. That means clearer phone calls, easier chats with passengers and a better listening experience from the Bower & Wilkins audio system.

Performance: Still A 717 HP Super SUV

Don’t let the soft-spoken styling fool you. Under the hood is the bespoke 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 from the DBX S. Its 717 hp comes from turbocharger technology shared with the mid-engine Valhalla supercar, and 664 lb-ft of torque delivers easy, accessible shove.

  • 0-60 mph: 3.1 seconds
  • Top speed: 193 mph
  • Brakes: carbon ceramic, 16.5 inches front and 15.4 inches rear
  • Steering: the faster ratio from the DBX S
  • Turning circle: 39.4 feet

Chassis Tweaks That Smooth The Road

The GT gets its own suspension tuning, including a unique damper valve system. The internal valves manage oil flow over high frequency, low amplitude inputs, such as coarse pavement or rumble strips, so less vibration reaches the cabin while body control stays tight when you push on. The spring rate also changes with the selected drive mode, shifting the roll stiffness balance through a corner for better grip and steering response.

“The challenge with DBX GT was achieving meaningful improvements in comfort and refinement in everyday use cases, but keeping the same class-leading reserves of performance and handling we have achieved with the DBX S. This was delivered via a combination of small but significant hardware upgrades together with a targeted suite of calibration changes to the chassis and powertrain. The results are highly satisfying; noticeable reduction in unwanted noise intrusion, greater isolation from road imperfections and a tangible uplift in refinement, but with the breathtaking performance, handling poise and driver connection for which the DBX is renowned,” said Chief Technology Officer Ian Hoban.

Lessons from the Valhalla also made it into the car. A new transmission mount bush adds stiffness, and two new longitudinal dampers link the body to the rear subframe, which helps over big potholes, sharp crests and heavy compressions. Throttle pedal feel has been refined for more precise, proportionate response, and the 9-speed wet clutch automatic has been recalibrated for smoother shifts, from lazy city crawling to full-throttle fun.

The Exhaust: Discreet Until You Say Otherwise

The GT gets a dedicated exhaust tune. Double mixing of gas flow in the rear muffler removes harsh metallic frequencies for a cleaner, richer tone. In GT mode it stays discreet.

But switch it to Sport or Sport+ and the full Aston Martin soundtrack comes back alive in all its glory, telling everyone else on the road to move over for the big dawg.

The Bottom Line

Aston Martin DBX GT

The Aston Martin DBX GT is the most refined and understated interpretation of the brand’s high-performance SUV. It offers quiet luxury and elegance without giving up the speed, and it adds its own character to the brand’s SUV lineup.

It’s aimed at buyers cross shopping the Lamborghini Urus SE and Bentley Bentayga. The Urus chases raw drama and the Bentayga leans toward cosseting luxury. The DBX GT is pitched as the one that blends both without making a scene.

So if your idea of a perfect drive involves a hushed cabin, hand-finished leather and a V8 you can unleash on demand, the DBX GT belongs on your shortlist.
