Couple Going To Broadway Show

Willingly attending a Broadway show, you would think, would have your man card declined faster than you can say “Cats.” But think again.

If your woman asks you to go to a Broadway show with her, it automatically triggers survival skill techniques in your head. Your brain automatically tries to figure out how to get out of this. It is just like when she asks you if she’s fat. You’re screwed. It’s a trap. You’re damned if you tell her the truth and you’re damned if you make up a white lie or try to avoid the question. For most manly men, even mentioning the word “Broadway” kicks in these survival instincts, unless, of course, the conversation happens to involve the great New York Jets quarterback, “Broadway” Joe Namath.

So how could it be possible that a typical hairy chested, dirty-fingernailed and testosterone-sweating man would ever consider going to a Broadway show? Easy. It would appeal to things he loves, like football, slapstick comedy or high-flying action.

‘Lombardi’

Move over Broadway Joe, we have another National Football League icon on the Broadway scene. Vince Lombardi has his own show, and that alone may just be enough to have a man admit that he wants to go see a Broadway show.

Lombardi” is the equivalent of old school professional football. When a guy thinks of a hard knocks coach who inspires you while slapping you on the helmet, he thinks Vince Lombardi, one of the greatest NFL coaches of all time.

“Lombardi,” is based on the biography “When Pride Still Mattered: A Life of Vince Lombardi,” and follows the coach through the 1965 season. If want to relive some great Lombardi moments, this is the Broadway show to see.

‘Book of Mormon’

Every guy loves raunchy, slapstick humor, especially when it comes from “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the same guys who also brought you the outlandish puppet movie, “Team America,” which, if you remember, also included some Broadway-type scenes.

Parker and Stone have no limits when it comes to comedy. There is no person, race, handicap or — in this case — religion they won’t joke about. This Broadway show is no different. The Herald Sun states the show does have plenty of “South Park” flair, so much so there are a couple scenes you feel the little cartoon boys from Colorado have come to life. “Book of Mormon” is filled with so much shocking, head-shaking humor, that a man may forget he’s even at an actual Broadway show. Your man card is safe with this Broadway show.

“Book of Mormon” tickets can be purchased online on the “Book of Mormon” website for the New York show. The show is also on tour so there are plenty of chances to see “Book of Mormon” wherever you may be located in the U.S.

‘Spiderman, Turn Off The Dark’

If we men are expected to enjoy Broadway singing and like it, then it’s gonna have to include some high-flying action. In “Spiderman, Turn Off The Dark,” that’s exactly what you’ll get. Where many Broadway shows focus on the acting and singing, this show injects a lot more action with aerial stunts and cool props to the stage.

Superhero comics are all the rage lately, with several coming out in movie theaters. For men, it may be a little geeky, but the action is plenty good. On the Broadway stage, the action is just as good and, combined with elaborate costumes and makeup, it rivals the entertainment you’d get at a movie theater.
