Netflix Movie Of The Week #13

While enjoying some downtime last weekend, my girlfriend and I decided to watch Craigslist Joe. This documentary follows Joseph Garner who lives in LA and decides to take a leap of faith and believe in humanity. What exactly does he do? Well Garner plans to live off of the good will of people for a whole month. He will travel wherever the road takes him and only rely on Craigslist.

He sets out from LA with only a new iPhone with no contacts (he plans to make his own on his journey), the clothes on his back, a MacBook, and a toothbrush. Joe has to find a place to sleep every single night, bum rides off of complete strangers, and volunteers for classes just to make friends and keep warm. His journey takes him completely across country, and along the way we meet some of the most generous and bizarre people.

Technology has distanced us, and what’s great about Joe’s beliefs is that hopefully it’s technology that will save him. I definitely recommend watching Craigslist Joe – This isn’t The Craigslist Killer movie that was on Lifetime. This is a movie about making real connections throughout the world, and actually leaving it all behind to do some good.
