Toyota is charging full speed ahead with its electrified future with the introduction of the all-new 2026 Toyota C-HR. Unlike the previous generation C-HR, this stylish, compact crossover is all-electric, all-wheel drive, and all about modern performance and design, aimed at buyers who want efficiency, performance, and everyday usability wrapped in a sleek package.

From the outside, the new C-HR BEV turns heads. It carries over the bold design language of the old gas-powered C-HR but evolves it with sharper lines, a coupe-inspired silhouette, and a futuristic front fascia that fits right in with the rest of Toyota’s expanding EV family. It has a wide, planted stance, an angular rear end, and slim LED lighting that gives it a distinctive look. The XSE trim in particular stands out, adding larger wheels and sportier accents that push the aggressive styling even further.

Performance-wise, Toyota isn’t holding back. The new C-HR rides on the brand’s dedicated EV architecture, known as e-TNGA, and comes equipped with dual electric motors (one on each axle) that deliver a combined 338 horsepower and standard all-wheel drive. That setup allows it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in about 5.0 seconds, putting it in some pretty quick company for the segment.

A 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery is mounted low in the chassis to keep the center of gravity down and enhance handling dynamics. Toyota estimates a driving range of up to 290 miles on a full charge. For those who like to fine-tune their driving experience, the car offers four levels of regenerative braking that can be controlled with steering wheel paddles.

On the charging front, Toyota has equipped the C-HR to handle just about every scenario. It supports DC fast charging, which can bring the battery from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes. It’s also compatible with Level 1 and Level 2 charging, making it easy to charge at home or work. Perhaps more importantly, Toyota is adopting the North American Charging Standard (NACS), giving C-HR drivers access to Tesla’s expansive and reliable Supercharger network.

Inside, the cabin of the C-HR is tech-forward and comfortable, featuring a massive 14-inch touchscreen running Toyota’s latest Audio Multimedia system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, and the system also supports over-the-air updates, voice control via Toyota’s Intelligent Assistant, and cloud-based navigation. Features like a dual wireless charging pad, USB-C ports in both rows, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel come standard, along with dual-zone climate control and individual rear-seat vents.

The Toyota C-HR is available in two well-equipped trims: SE and XSE. The SE trim comes with SofTex-trimmed seating, rolls on 18-inch wheels and includes rain-sensing wipers, blind spot monitoring, heated mirrors, and a strong suite of safety and tech features. The XSE takes things a step further with SofTex and synthetic suede-trimmed seats, 20-inch gunmetal-finish wheels, a driver’s seat with memory settings, a digital rearview mirror, and premium LED lighting throughout. It also includes a Panoramic View Monitor for a 360-degree camera view, and buyers can opt for a JBL 9-speaker premium audio system with 800 watts of power.

In terms of safety and driver assistance, the C-HR comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. This includes a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and Road Sign Assist. There’s also Proactive Driving Assist, which uses the car’s sensors and camera to gently apply braking or steering when needed to maintain safe distances. The standard Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert help when navigating tight spots, and Safe Exit Alert warns occupants if traffic is approaching when opening the door.

With the 2026 C-HR, Toyota now offers 20 electrified models in the U.S., and this one feels especially dialed in for younger buyers who want style, technology, and performance without sacrificing range or reliability. It brings sharp design, a strong all-wheel drive system, excellent interior tech, and real-world usability into a single package.

Toyota hasn’t announced pricing yet, but expect it to land competitively alongside rivals like the Hyundai Kona Electric, Kia Niro EV, and the base-level Tesla Model Y. Production is set to begin in 2026, and the vehicle will be built at Toyota’s plant in Kentucky.
