What I’m Listening To – 09/13/11

I get caught up in the “latest and greatest” and often forget about some of the great songs of yesterday. So I went through my library and pulled out these gems. Hope you like ’em!

Kanye West – Homecoming (ft. Chris Martin)

Kanye West has so many great songs.. Heck, I’ve got 4 of his albums on my iPhone, that’s how much I like his music. But on the Graduation album, there are two songs that have more plays than any other – Homecoming and Good Life. Homecoming has deep lyrics, a mellow flow, and the added bonus of Chris Martin. If you haven’t heard it before, check it out!

Fort Minor – Feel Like Home

Fort Minor was a side project of Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park). Their debut solo album The Rising Tied came out in 2005, and if you’re a Linkin Park fan you’ll love this album! Feel Like Home might not have had the commercial success of tracks like Where’d You Go, but it’s more representative of their hip-hop roots.

The Prodigy – Invaders Must Die

I’ve been a fan of The Prodigy since the mid-90s, when they put out blockbuster albums like Music for the Jilted Generation and The Fat of the Land. Even if you weren’t into the genre, you probably heard some of their hit songs, including Firestarter and Smack My Bitch Up. Unfortunately, those were hard acts to follow, and their next two albumbs were duds.

Thankfully, in 2009 they released Invaders Must Die, which is one heck of an album!
