Get Excited, Because Blue Bell’s Groom’s Cake Ice Cream Is Back

If you’re a fan of trying new or nostalgic desserts, you’re in luck, because the iconic Blue Bell’s Groom’s Cake Ice Cream is back in stores starting today.

This return comes thanks to The Great Scoop Revival Flavor Tournament, a contest where fans voted online to bring back a favorite retired flavor. Groom’s Cake came out on top, edging out Cookie Cake in the final round.

How Groom’s Cake Made Its Comeback

Last year, the Brenham, Texas-based ice cream company ran a contest on its social media and website, where fans could vote on which past flavor they wanted to see return. The tournament started with 16 carefully selected favorites, based on frequent consumer requests, and over time it was narrowed down to the final two: Groom’s Cake vs. Cookie Cake.

“We are excited to have Groom’s Cake back in stores this year,” said Kelli Remmert, Blue Bell marketing communications manager. “It is always difficult to say goodbye to an ice cream flavor that you love. Being able to interact with our fans and hear directly from them is always fun. We plan to have another flavor tournament in the future, and we know the competition will be just as sweet.”

What’s in Groom’s Cake Ice Cream?

For those unfamiliar, Groom’s Cake was first introduced in 2009, but it hasn’t been on shelves since 2018. The flavor is luscious Blue Bell Milk Chocolate Ice Cream combined with chocolate cake pieces and chocolate-coated strawberry hearts, surrounded by swirls of strawberry sauce and chocolate icing. Sounds amazing, right??

For a limited time, Groom’s Cake will be sold in the pint and half gallon sizes.

Cookie Cake Fans Also Get A Treat

Thanks to the strong showing of support from Cookie Cake fans, Blue Bell is also bringing back that runner-up flavor later this month. Cookie Cake features sweet cream ice cream packed with chocolate chip cookie cake pieces, plus chocolate and vanilla icing swirls.

“The competition was fierce because our fans are very passionate about Blue Bell Ice Cream,” Remmert added. “We are happy to be able to bring back not one, but two favorite flavors.”
