Hennessey Unleashes The 850-HP Super Venom Mustang
Hennessey Performance Engineering is back at it again, pushing the limits of American muscle with the Super Venom Mustang, a jaw-dropping 850-horsepower monster built to celebrate the company’s founding in 1991. If you thought the stock 2025 Ford Mustang Dark Horse was already a potent machine with its 500 horsepower, Hennessey’s latest creation takes it to an entirely new level of raw power and aggressive styling.
A Supercharged Powerhouse
At the heart of the Super Venom Mustang is a heavily modified 5.0-liter Coyote V8, enhanced with a high-performance supercharger, high-flow air induction system, upgraded fuel injectors and fuel pump, plus Hennessey’s rigorously developed engine management system. It’s available with either a 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic.
These upgrades boost power output to a staggering 850 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, far exceeding the factory specs of the standard Mustang GT and Dark Horse models. The added power translates to blistering acceleration, with a 0-60 mph time of just 3.2 seconds and ripping through the quarter-mile in 10.9 seconds at 133 mph.
John Hennessey, the company’s founder and CEO, expressed his excitement about this latest build, saying, “Our team is thrilled to offer Mustang enthusiasts the most powerful and exhilarating upgrade available. The Super Venom Mustang encapsulates over 30 years of performance expertise and delivers an unmatched driving experience.”
Track-Ready Performance Meets Aggressive Styling
Performance isn’t just about brute force—Hennessey has ensured the Super Venom Mustang looks as menacing as it drives. The car features a fully carbon fiber ‘VenomAero’ kit consists of a more aggressive front splitter, a functional front hood vent, side skirts, functional front fender louvers, a rear deck lid with an integrated duck bill, and a tall, fixed, rear track wing.
In addition, the Super Venom Mustang is sporting 20-inch lightweight performance wheels, Hennessey “H” fender badges, a full Hennessey leather and Alcantara interior upgrade, and a dash plaque bearing the car’s serial number.
While we assume there have been some suspension upgrades made as well to ensure the increased power is effectively delivered to the pavement, it’s possible that they’re relying on the Dark Horse’s setup with its limited-slip differential and adaptive damping to do the job.
What’s Included in the Super Venom Package?
Hennessey isn’t just slapping a supercharger on a Mustang and calling it a day. The Super Venom package includes a host of modifications to improve power, aerodynamics, and drivability. Key upgrades include:
- 850 HP Supercharged 5.0L Coyote V8
- High-flow air induction system
- Upgraded fuel injectors and fuel system
- Custom Hennessey ECU tuning
- Carbon fiber aerodynamic enhancements (front splitter, rear wing, and hood)
- Widened body for improved stance and aerodynamics
- Custom forged performance wheels with high-performance tires
- Limited edition badging and interior upgrades
Hennessey Performance emphasized, “This is the most aggressive and track-capable Mustang we have ever built, designed for those who want to push their driving experience to the absolute limit.”
Pricing and Availability – Act Fast
Pricing for the Super Venom Dark Horse is priced at $163,950 while the Super Venom GT starts at $149,950. Whyanyone would skimp on the GT when already spending this kind of money is beyond me, but whatever. Both builds benefit from the full Ford factory warranty, plus a three year / 36,000-mile Hennessey limited warranty for absolute peace of mind.
While that’s a HUGE step up from the price of a base Mustang GT or Dark Horse, it’s still about half the price of a Ford Mustang GTD (assuming you can even get on the list for one).
That said, the 2025 Shelby GT350R looks to deliver similar performance at a similar price, and it comes with that Shelby brand cache. It should be interesting to see how these two “tuner” Mustangs stack up against one another in an inevitable showdown.
