Margaritaville At Sea Expands Fleet With Its Largest Ship Yet
Big news for cruise fans, as Margaritaville at Sea is growing again. On the cruise line’s third anniversary, the brand announced the acquisition of a third ship, the Costa Fortuna, marking another milestone in its fast-paced expansion. This new vessel will be the largest in the fleet, and it’s set to bring even more of the signature Margaritaville style to the open ocean.
A Major Upgrade in Size and Experience
Built for Costa Cruises, the Costa Fortuna will be the largest vessel in the Margaritaville at Sea fleet at over 102,500 gross tons and capacity for approximately 3,450 passengers. Featuring more than 1,340 staterooms, 13 passenger decks, expansive outdoor spaces, and a soaring 8-story center atrium, the ship will soon be transformed by Margaritaville at Sea in the signature island-inspired design central to the line’s success.
With expansive outdoor spaces and plenty of room to relax and unwind, this ship will offer more ways for guests to enjoy that relaxed, tropical atmosphere the brand is known for.
Continuing a Winning Streak
Since launching its first ship, the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise, in 2022, the cruise line has earned high marks from both industry critics and loyal guests. In 2024, the debut of the Margaritaville at Sea Islander took the experience to another level, helping the brand earn awards like Cruise Critic’s #1 Cruisers Choice and Newsweek’s 2025 Best Ship for Families.
Now, the Costa Fortuna is set to build on that momentum.
“Over the last three years we have been incredibly focused on building Margaritaville at Sea by delivering more of what our guests love – a uniquely laid-back island attitude with award-winning hospitality,” said Christopher Ivy, Chief Executive Officer of Margaritaville at Sea.
“With the acquisition of our third ship in 3 years, we are proud to once again invite guests to step into the Margaritaville state of mind on the open ocean. The launch of the Margaritaville at Sea Islander was a significant moment for our company, and the acquisition of the Costa Fortuna, our largest ship to date, gives us another exciting opportunity to bring even more fun and escapism to guests from a new homeport in 2026.”
New Homeport and Itineraries Expected in 2026
If that’s not enough, one of the most exciting details is that this new ship will sail from a new homeport, which Margaritaville at Sea plans to announce soon. That means new itineraries and destinations are coming in 2026—something cruisers can definitely look forward to.
John Cohlan, CEO of Margaritaville, shared his excitement about the line’s continued success: “Margaritaville at Sea has been on an exceptional trajectory since its launch only a few short years ago. We’re thrilled to once again expand the experience of our brand on the water and share the cruise line’s signature experiences and amenities with even more guests.”
What’s Next?
For now, the Costa Fortuna will remain in operation with Costa Cruises until late next year. After that, it will be reimagined & relaunched under the Margaritaville at Sea brand, bringing more opportunities for travelers to enjoy the unique mix of island-inspired relaxation and all-ages fun.
Stay tuned for more information on this new ship, including details on its transformation, new ports of call, and everything else Margaritaville at Sea has planned for 2026.
