Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD Coming To Xbox Live & PSN

I’m not really a huge gamer, but I’ve always loved the skateboarding games. In my younger days, it was all about 720° and Skate or Die. Both of those games were fun, but when Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater came out, it was a real game-changer.

I played most of the Tony Hawk games (Pro Skater 1-3, Underground, American Wasteland, etc), but those first Pro Skater games were arguably the best. Heck, GameSpot gave THPS3 a perfect “10” score, which is saying something!

Prepare to get excited, because Tony Hawk is bringing back what fans have been clamoring for: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD, a remake of the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games.

In a video exclusive to Mashable, Hawk talks about why he decided to release Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD (an remastering of seven classic levels). He says he thinks the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 opened the door for skateboarding in video games, and introduced lots of gamers to skating.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD will be released for Xbox Live Arcade on July 18th, and the PlayStation Network in the near future. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 will also be available as downloadable content in the future as well.
