The iconic Trident turns 100, and Maserati is celebrating the only way it knows how, with more power, more style, and a whole lot more attitude.

If you’ve ever dreamed of piloting a hand-built Italian grand tourer at the horizon and burying your foot in the throttle, Maserati has got just what you’re looking for. The Modena-based car company just unveiled the new 2027 GranTurismo, GranCabrio, and Grecale, and the updates on these Italian stallions run deeper than a fresh coat of paint.

The timing is no accident. This is the year Maserati marks 100 years of its iconic Trident badge, the very logo Alfieri Maserati carried to victory at the 1926 Targa Florio. A century later, the House of the Trident is making sure the next 100 years start with a bang.

A Design Language Born On The Track

The new look didn’t come from a committee. It was forged on a race circuit.

Maserati’s Centro Stile team used the track-only MCXtrema as a design laboratory to develop a sharper, more horizontal, and more aggressive front-end language. That visual direction came to the road with the GT2 Stradale, got dialed in further with the MCPURA, and is now landing on the production GranTurismo, GranCabrio, and Grecale.

On the GranTurismo and GranCabrio, there’s a completely redesigned front end with reshaped air intakes and boundary-layer aspiration slots, CFD-developed air curtains, along with a central splitter that increases front downforce. Out back, clear lens taillights modernize the rear. Optional new Tridente wheels in gloss black (inspired by the MCPURA Cielo) widen the track by 10mm for sharper turn-in and a more planted feel.

The Grecale also gets the same treatment with a more pronounced “shark-nose” front bumper architecture and shaped side air curtains to manage airflow around the front wheels. Two new wheel designs, the 20″ Asteria and 21″ Crono, round out the fresh look.

The Nettuno V6 Gets A Serious Power Bump

Here’s where it gets really good. The 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 Nettuno, the engine that borrows pre-chamber combustion tech straight from Formula 1, has been pushed to 582 hp in Trofeo trim. That’s 40 hp more than the outgoing version, matched with 479 lb-ft of torque and a top speed of over 199 mph in the GranTurismo Trofeo.

The engine features cylinder deactivation for real-world efficiency, a front differential aligned with the engine to lower the center of gravity, and the same patented MTC (Maserati Twin Combustion) technology shared with the wild MCPURA.

And because power is only half the story, Maserati went to work on the sound. Trofeo models now come standard with a Sportivo exhaust, delivering the kind of noise that makes every tunnel feel like your personal amphitheater.

Two power states are on offer across the combustion lineup: 483 hp for the base version and 582 hp for Trofeo. Both get all-wheel drive and air spring suspension with adjustable damping and ride height as standard.

“With the new Trident range, we are strengthening the distinctive quality that has always defined us: Italian Gran Turismo, where design, elegance, performance and masterful craftsmanship come together in a balance of elegance that is never ostentatious, yet always performance oriented,” said Maserati COO Santo Ficili.

The Grecale Gets Its Own V6, And It’s A Monster

Until now, the Grecale topped out with a 530-hp V6 in Trofeo trim. The big news for SUV fans is the arrival of a new 385-hp Nettuno-derived V6 for the Grecale V6 and Modena V6 variants – a first for those trim levels, and it brings the same F1-derived pre-chamber tech to a broader audience.

Torque delivery is generous from low in the rev range (up 32% compared to the 2.0-liter four-cylinder at 2,000 rpm), and the power builds all the way to the redline. The full Trofeo V6 variant hits 0–60 mph in 3.6 seconds and tops out at 177 mph.

The Grecale now comes in six flavors: Grecale, Modena, Grecale V6, Modena V6, Trofeo V6, and Folgore – covering mild hybrid four-cylinders, the new V6s, and a 550-hp full electric. For those who want the best of all worlds, the Trofeo V6 achieves the highest specific output in its segment at 177 hp per liter. Not bad for a family-friendly luxury SUV.

The Folgore Electric Lineup Is No Joke

If you thought electric cars were boring, the GranTurismo Folgore is here to change your mind.

The GranTurismo Folgore pumps out a continuous 751 hp and 995 lb-ft of torque through an 800-volt triple-motor setup (one at the front, two decoupled at the rear), with a top speed of 202 mph. The rear dual-motor layout enables surgically precise torque vectoring. An AWD Disconnect system can transfer drive entirely to the rear axle in just 500 milliseconds by physically disengaging the front half-shafts. And a new energy management algorithm has pushed range to more than 335 miles.

The GranCabrio Folgore is arguably even more remarkable: it’s the world’s first fully electric cabriolet in its segment, with a top speed of 180 mph. That makes it, officially, the fastest electric cabriolet on the road. Full stop.

The Grecale Folgore holds its own too. Range increases by up to 33 miles with 21-inch wheels thanks to the new AGS Air Grille Shutter system and aerodynamic improvements, with a maximum range of 360 miles.

Inside: The Cabin Gets A Proper Upgrade

The interiors haven’t been forgotten either. Both the GranTurismo/GranCabrio and the Grecale get a new racing-inspired steering wheel that stands out with flat upper and lower sections and dark satin aluminum spokes, available in perforated leather or Sport trim with Alcantara inserts. The Grecale version pushes further with an unprecedented octagonal geometry and a centered six o’clock spoke.

The Maserati Digital Clock gets a new octagonal metal bezel with redesigned graphics and a pop-up mode-change function. The PRND gear selector has been upgraded with 3D premium metal controls, and a new parking function has been added to the steering wheel paddles.

The digital interface combines a 12.3″ central display, 8.8″ Comfort display, customizable 12.2″ instrument cluster, and a head-up display. And new this year is a driver monitoring system that watches for distraction and fatigue.

On the color and materials front, the Fuoriserie personalization program has expanded with seven new exterior colors including Green Jupiter Matte, Blu Denim, Bronzo Lucido, Grigio Mistero, Rosso Velluto, and Oro Lirico, plus new interior options in Bordeaux leather, Nude Alcantara, and Black and Tan leather.

For GranCabrio buyers, the soft top can now be fully personalized through the Fuoriserie Bespoke program for the first time, a detail that cabriolet purists will appreciate.

Four Seats, One Philosophy: Real Gran Turismo

2027 Maserati GranCabrio

Don’t let the power numbers fool you into thinking these are track-day specials. All three of these models are engineered for the long haul – proper four-seat grand tourers that are as comfortable on a 600-mile run as they are on a mountain road.

The GranTurismo and GranCabrio offer driving modes including GT for relaxed cruising, Sport for when things get interesting, and Corsa for full attack mode (Trofeo only). A new Country mode on the 483-hp version and Folgore raises ride height by 20mm at lower speeds. Launch Control is available across the entire range in Sport and Corsa modes.

The Grecale adds Off-Road mode to the mix, making it genuinely usable beyond paved roads while still offering Corsa-mode sharpness when you want it.

Built In Italy, Staying True To Its Roots

2027 Maserati Model Lineup

All three models are developed & produced in Italy: GranTurismo and GranCabrio in Modena, the Grecale in Cassino. In an era where manufacturing is increasingly globalized, having that handcrafted Italian provenance is a real differentiator and a core part of why you’re buying it.

The new models are heading to markets now. If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to take the Maserati plunge, there’s never been a better time than now!
