Yorkville Car Show

Yorkville is one of the most famous districts in the city of Toronto, where you can find some of the best, most exclusive hotels and restaurants in the world. Also, it is one of the most expensive shopping districts, and the home of many famous art galleries. Apart from these things, a couple of years ago, another event was organized in Yorkville that attracted thousands of visitors. It’s the Yorkville Exotic Car Show, that was first held in 2010, and it later became an annual show. This year, on June 16th, the Yorkville Exotic Car Show was held for the fourth time.

The show was held on Bloor Street, where the famous shopping area is located. Apart from showing beautiful cars, it raised $30,000 that were donated to Prostate Cancer Canada. It’s a show where all sorts of new and old exotic cars are displayed, each of them costing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Some quite famous companies sponsored the event, including Petro Canada’s Ultra 94, as a title sponsor, Porsche Cars Canada Limited and Grand Touring Automobiles as gold sponsors, and McLaren Toronto and Porsche Design, as silver sponsors.

Most of the cars that were displayed on Bloor Street were superfast sports cars, and like in previous years, many of them were Porsches. There were some really old, vintage models, such as the 1964 Porsche 356 Cabriolet, or the 1963 Porsche 356B, as well some newer models, like the 1996 Porsche 993 Turbo S, the 2010 Porsche 911 GTR3-RS, the 2012 Cayman R, the 2013 Boxster, and the 2013 Porsche 911.

Apart from Porsche, visitors were able to see a lot of Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Aston Martins, with the 1999 Ferrari 355 GTS, the 2003 Ferrari 360 Modena, the 2008 Ferrari 59 GTB Fiorano, the 2008 Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster, the 2012 Aston Martin Vantage V8 S, as some of the most notable examples. Also, the Aston Martin Vanquish was displayed, which is an incredibly fast, powerful car, with a V12 engine, providing 565 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.

A lot American cars were showed, as well. There were lots of vintage and muscle cars, as well as roadsters. One of them was the Dodge Viper SRT-8, one of the fastest cars made in America. When it comes to vintage cars, there were the 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 150, the 1959 Chevrolet Impala, the 1958 Chevrolet Corvette, and the 1965 Shelby Cobra. One of the most exquisite cars was definitely the 1932 Buccialli TAV-12, one of only two such cars that still exist. But, among all these amazing exotic sports cars, the highlight of this year’s show was perhaps the “BatBerry”, a Batmobile replica.

To sum up, the 2013 Yorkville Car Show was a great event, that attracted 80,000 visitors, displaying some of the fastest, rarest and most exotic cars in the world, which are thought to be worth around $16 million in total. Judging by the number of people who came to the show, it is surely going to become one of Yorkville’s major attractions, alongside the art galleries, museums, and shopping districts.
