Did you know that back in 2001 when Johnny Depp was making that Pirates of the Caribbean money, he purchased an abandoned 19th-century Provençal village located just miles away from the celebrity hot spot of Saint-Tropez? Yeah, that totally sounds like something Mr. Jack Sparrow would do, buying a freaking town for himself to live in!

While it’s unknown how much Depp originally spent on the property, he then spent millions of dollars renovating the buildings back to their original glory during his 14-year relationship with French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis, according to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com.

Turning the property into an idyllic place to live, the couple and their two children enjoyed the estate and local surroundings until their relationship went downhill, eventually leading to their permanent separation. Now, this magnificent property is going on the market, and it can be yours for just $55.5 million.

Johnny Depp’s village includes the main house (a 4,500-square-foot main residence which has five bedrooms and three & 1/2 baths), six guest homes (one was the original village church), a private restaurant named Chez Marceline, a covered wagon with bath and kitchen, and an art studio. Together, living space is 12,900 square feet with 15 bedrooms and 14 baths.

Depp has spent over $10 million in preserving the stone-and-wood-beamed structures without destroying their original features. Grounds include two swimming pools, a charming town square with lush landscaping and outdoor dining, a skate park, a full gym, a pirate lair, and a wine cave. Grounds are dotted with 300-year-old oaks, olive trees, and vineyards.

If this property looks familiar, it’s because Depp first listed his French estate back in 2015 and 2016 for between $25 million and $63 million, but it never sold. Now, with real estate prices steadily rising, he’s put it back on the market, hoping that someone will scoop this up as it’s the ultimate place to be quarantined.

Depp has been the owner of several unusual properties over the years including a collection of penthouses in downtown Los Angeles, a 45-acre private island in the Bahamas, and a horse farm in Kentucky that he purchased twice. Seriously, who knew playing a pirate paid so well?!

Saint-Tropez is one of the most popular vacation towns on the French Riviera for the jet set crowd, so we’re sure some mega-rich celebrity will want to own this little piece of paradise.
