LEGO ICONS has recreated one of the most successful F1 cars of all time, the McLaren MP4/4 that driver Ayrton Senna drove to victory in the 1988 Formula One World Championship.

The LEGO ICONS McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna (10330) was developed in collaboration with McLaren Racing and the Senna brand, and this meticulously detailed in-scale replica model accurately captures the look and feel of the legendary 1988 racer – ranked as one of the most successful F1 race cars of all time.

Despite not being a LEGO Technic kit, the 693-piece McLaren MP4/4 has accurate detailing and realistic functions, including working steering, rod suspension, an adjustable rear wing, slick tires, mirrors, a gearshift and a detailed turbocharged V6 engine, a display stand for the car, and an Ayrton Senna minifigure.

One thing that’s missing here is the original Marlboro cigarette advertising. But McLaren and Honda’s branding decorate the body of the vehicle and such. There’s also an information plaque with an iconic Ayrton Senna quote that reads “No matter what your dream is, you have to dedicate yourself entirely to it.”

Most people will be able to build this set in a night or two, but it’s still a very cool set that will surely be a hit with any true F1 fan. And with a retail price of $79.99, it won’t break the bank.

I plan on picking one up when it’s released on March 1, 2024, and the final product will surely look great in my home office alongside all of my other automotive memorabilia.
