It’s very rare, but sometimes you’ll get an urgent request from work at the worst possible time; when you’re on vacation. Traveling around the world, the last thing you want is for the dreary voice of your boss on the phone, telling you to help out with a task. You have every right to say no and just reject their request so you can get back to sunbathing. However, we all know that we have to go home some day, and going back into the office is going to be a bit awkward if we didn’t at least try to help. You can also demand an extra day or two off for taking time out of your personal leisure time to help. So if you are abroad and you are trying to help your fellow colleagues our with a task that your would normally do, how can you support them to the best of your ability with some basic remote working tools and services?

Document delivery day

If you’re a manager, you know that work usually doesn’t ever stop. You just have to take a piece of your work home with you. It might be employees rates, figuring out their overtime pay and what they’re owed to things like problem solving about tasks that were not finished that day. Being sent documents from a client or partner is part and parcel of being in the middle-management role. Usually there will be a time limit or a set date for when documents such as contracts, invoices, new requests or information and perhaps even quarterly earnings reports will be sent to you. Project management from afar

When you’re the team leader of a project, usually your team will take a break when you do. Even from many miles away you can still speak face to face in the virtual realm by using tools like Zoom. Zoom has been made specifically for business conferences and unlike free services like Skype or Google Hangouts, analytics and files that can be uploaded and opened in the conference itself so everyone can take a look. You can move your cursor over the documents, highlight sentences and write notes so every can absorb them at the same time and remain coordinated.

No one wants to be bothered on their holiday but when you are needed you have to suck it up and do your duty. Using tools that are designed for conference and document sharing from a remote location are simply a must to be effective when you’re not in the office.
