Mercedes-AMG GT 63 ‘APXGP Edition’ Pays Tribute To New Brad Pitt F1 Movie
At this weekend’s Formula 1 race in Miami, Mercedes-AMG unveiled the AMG GT 63 “APXGP Edition”, a highly exclusive special edition model limited to just 52 units worldwide, created as part of a global promotion for the upcoming F1 movie. This car was designed to reflect the styling and spirit of the fictional APXGP Formula 1 team featured in the film.
Set to hit theaters on June 27, 2025, F1 is directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The film follows Brad Pitt as a former driver making his return to Formula 1, paired with Damson Idris as his younger teammate. Filmed during actual Grand Prix race weekends and created with the cooperation of real F1 teams, drivers, and promoters, F1 aims to bring a gritty, authentic look at the racing world.
Mercedes-AMG played a key behind-the-scenes role in the making of the movie, providing not only technical support from its F1 team but also supplying vehicles like the AMG SL, G-Class, and GT, as well as the official FIA F1 Safety Car and Medical Car. Michael Schiebe, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, emphasized the collaboration, saying:
“F1 brilliantly intertwines the fictional APXGP team with the real-world Formula 1. The thrilling storyline and realistic race footage will set moviegoers’ hearts racing. We’re excited to showcase our performance vehicles, including the dynamic AMG GT, in this high-performance setting. With the exclusive APXGP Edition, we’re creating a limited number of GTs that blend AMG’s excitement with the cinematic masterpiece F1.”
The AMG GT 63 “APXGP Edition” itself is based on the 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT 63, combining a handcrafted 577-horsepower 4.0L V8 biturbo engine with AMG’s Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system, advanced suspension with active roll stabilization, and rear-axle steering. It’s designed to deliver precise handling on the road or track while still offering the everyday usability of a grand touring coupe, thanks to a sophisticated aluminum body structure, available 2+2 seating, and generous cargo space.
Visually, this special edition stands out with a custom APXGP Edition paint finish, featuring Race Gold accents carefully hand-applied on elements like the radiator grille, front fenders, side sills, rear apron, and diffuser blade. The matte Race Gold 21-inch AMG Forged Cross-Spoke wheels and black calipers of the AMG High Performance Carbon Ceramic Brake System add a distinctive motorsport-inspired look.
Enhancing its performance feel, the car comes with an AMG Carbon Fiber package including a front splitter, side sill trims, rear diffuser, and a fixed carbon rear wing. The AMG Extended Night Package brings in black chrome finishes on the grille, badging, and Mercedes star, with a silver chrome AMG fuel filler cap completing the exterior’s unique details.
Inside the cabin, the AMG GT 63 “APXGP Edition” features black Nappa leather and microfiber AMG Performance seats accented with gold contrast stitching, matched by carbon fiber trim elements woven with gold-colored threads. The heated AMG Performance steering wheel is wrapped in microfiber with a black 12 o’clock marking and gold stitching, which also appears across the door panels, dashboard, and center armrest. Additional touches include anodized black MANUFAKTUR door sill trims with gold illumination, AMG floor mats embroidered with the APXGP logo, and a numbered “Limited Edition 1 of 52” badge on the center console, underscoring just how exclusive this model is.
Rounding out the package, owners get a Burmester High-End 3D Surround Sound System with 15 speakers and a 1,170-watt output, AMG TRACK PACE data tracking for racetrack sessions, a front-axle lift system to handle speed bumps and steep driveways, and a custom edition-specific AMG Indoor Car Cover.
With only 52 units available globally, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 “APXGP Edition” is set to be a very rare collector’s piece for those who appreciate the blend of cinematic storytelling and automotive engineering. For car enthusiasts and F1 fans alike, this collaboration between Mercedes-AMG and the makers of F1 is one to watch closely this year.
Whether you’re hitting the track or just showing off in the valet line, this unique AMG GT 63 is guaranteed to turn heads.
