Back in March, Dodge showed off their Charger Widebody concept at Spring Fest 14, with wide flares, beefy tires, and a more aggressive stance. Needless to say, Mopar faithfuls were excited for the prospect of a widebody package for the four-door muscle car.

While Dodge played coy, claiming that it was only a concept, we knew a widebody variant was coming to compliment the Challenger Widebody. And now it’s a reality. Feast your eyes on the 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody and Dodge Charger Scat Pack Widebody.

The Widebody Package, standard on Charger SRT Hellcat and available on Charger Scat Pack, includes new integrated fender flares that add 3.5 inches of body width, creating an even more aggressive, planted stance. The flares make room for the wider 20-inch by 11-inch wheels and Pirelli 305/35ZR20 tires, Brembo six-piston front calipers with two-piece front brake rotors and unique suspension tuning with Bilstein three-mode adaptive damping, all combining to deliver improved performance on the street, strip and road course.

SRT engineers took these wider, stickier beasts to the track to see what they can do, and they didn’t disappoint. The 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody pulled off a 0-60 time of 3.6 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 10.96 seconds, 0.96 g of lateral grip on the skidpad, and brakes from 60-0 in just 107 feet. It also delivers a road course lap time 2.1 seconds faster than the non-widebody Charger SRT Hellcat after one lap of a 2.1-mile track.

The 2020 Charger Scat Pack Widebody delivers a 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 12.4 seconds, 0.98 g lateral grip on the skidpad, and brakes from 60-0 in 107 feet. On the same road course lap, it finished 1.3 seconds faster than the previous Charger Scat Pack.

As you can see, the Charger Widebody delivers improved performance on the street, strip and road course, and it looks bad-ass to boot with that aggressive, planted stance. And in keeping with tradition, the 2020 Charger will be available in 12 different and distinct colors, including F8 Green, Frostbite, Go Mango, Granite Crystal, Hellraisin, IndiGo Blue, Octane Red, Pitch Black, Sinamon Stick, TorRed, Triple Nickel, and White Knuckle.

No word on pricing just yet, but we’d expect similar price bumps as with the widebody vs non-widebody Challengers. Dealer orders will open this Fall, with deliveries starting in early 2020.

I’ve been interested in the Charger Scat Pack ever since it was released, and now in widebody form, it’s looking more attractive than ever. Sure, I’d much rather have the Charger Hellcat with its 707HP, but I think I’ll manage with “only” 485 horsepower. 🙂

What do you think of the Charger Widebody treatment?
